I am taking the next three weeks to share some of my favorite photos from each of the themeparks at the Walt Disney World Resort.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom is an animal park inside a themepark. I have taken thousands of photos of the park’s animals but it is the Tree of Life which I tried over the years to photograph as a “real” tree in the wild. I think in 2018, I found the scene which did just that.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios when it first opened in 1989 as Disney/MGM Studios was dedicated as “…a Hollywood that never was – and always will be.” Fresh off the success of Roger Rabbit with its throwback to 1947 Hollywood where Toons existed in the real world, the Studios was like walking into a movie. The Citizens of Hollywood, a Streetmosphere troup of talented improv actors, embodied the old Hollywood theme. I took great joy in photographing their performances.
It is my hope Disney will bring back the Streetmosphere performers in all the parks as we work through and past the COVID-19 epidemic.
