Since it first opened in 2019, Rise of the Resistance has been the undisputed Disney World champion when it comes to demand. In order to ride, guests must acquire a virtual Boarding Group at a designated time during the day, which then alerts guests when it’s their time to ride. Every day without fail, we’ve seen these Boarding Groups vanish in a flash — we’re talking gone within seconds of the distribution windows opening.

Needless to say, this is a popular ride. But we had a rare experience today watching the Boarding Groups being distributed that could potentially signal that it might FINALLY be getting easier to snag a Boarding Group for Rise of the Resistance.
We managed to score a Boarding Group this morning, but we wanted to monitor the 1PM distribution time to see how quickly they ran out. To our surprise, Boarding Groups were STILL available at 1:05PM! Five minutes is already WAY more time to get a Boarding Group than what we’re used to seeing.

But then, we noticed that Boarding Groups were still available at 1:07PM…

…then at 1:13 PM…

…at 1:21PM…

…at 1:52PM (!!!)…

…and at 2:00PM, ONE HOUR after the Boarding Group distribution window opened up!

Now, only time will tell to know whether or not Rise of the Resistance is finally starting to see a change in their wildly difficult Boarding Group process. If Disney World’s Park Pass Reservation availability calendar is any indication, crowds are pretty low this time of year, and keep in mind the parks are still at a limited capacity.

So, once park capacity is raised again and we start to move closer to Spring Break season, we could very well be right back where we started with Boarding Groups vanishing within seconds. But having the opportunity to actually RELAX and take our time in securing a Boarding Group is a lovely change of pace.

We still recommend you are ready to grab a Boarding Group the moment the distribution window opens up! We’ll keep checking in on the process at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in the coming days and weeks to see if this trend continues!

Touringplans.com monitors how fast BGs are called and how many are called each day. January 21 started slow in calling the groups, but called them continually throughout the day with no apparent breakdowns. The ride appears to be running more consistently the last month or so.
However, before we get too excited, Touringplans also reported that Hollywood studios had its slowest day in a month with 30-day low wait times at many of the park’s attractions.
