This has been a difficult year for the tourism industry with many businesses experiencing extended closures due to the global health crisis.
Although Disney World reopened in July, Florida tourism rates are still significantly lower this year than what previous years have seen. However, these rates have gradually been increasing over the past few months.
In a comparison between Florida’s Q3 tourism rates from 2019 to 2020, the Orlando Sentinel shared that there has been a 32% decrease.
July 1st to September 30th of 2020 saw only 22.112 million visitors, compared to those dates in 2019 saw 32.412 million visitors.
Positively, these numbers have increased from the 60.5% drop in tourism rates experienced in April, May, and June when compared to the same months in 2019.
