Although we’ve been enjoying our Night Blossoms and Pongu Lumpias in a reopened Pandora at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we’ve been eagerly anticipating the next installment of the Avatar series of films to continue to universe.
While the Avatar sequels are currently back in production, at the moment, the release dates for the films have continued to be pushed back due to many of the closures happening in different industries.
Avatar‘s producer Jon Landau shared photos on his Instagram of the continuing production on the films. The snaps show the High Camp Bio Lab set on the stages in New Zealand…
…as well as James Cameron studying the set before filming. In his caption, Landau makes sure to thank the production team by giving a “salute to the Kiwi crew for their attention to the artistry of their crafts.”
In an interview with RNZ, Landau stated that Avatar 2 would be a “story of the Sully family and what one does to keep their family together. Jake and Neytiri have a family in this movie, they are forced to leave their home, they go out and explore the different regions of Pandora, including spending quite a bit of time on the water, around the water, in the water.”
Although we’ve been waiting 11 years since the first Avatar, the next part of the series will (hopefully) debut in 2021. The full series release schedule is currently set as:
- Avatar 2 — December 17th, 2021
- Avatar 3 — December 22nd, 2023
- Avatar 4 — December 19th, 2025
- Avatar 5 — December 17th, 2027
While we don’t have a lot more information on the Avatar films, we’ll keep you updated on more details on the series and what’s coming to the Disney Parks too!
