While Artemis Fowl has just premiered and Hamilton will be coming to the streaming service next week, Disney has started to update its broadcasting agreements with different countries.

Deadline has reported that Disney will be shutting off its kids’ channels in the U.K. after being unable to make new carriage deals with platforms Sky and Virgin Media.

The closed channels will include Disney Channel, Disney XD, and Disney Junior that will be taken off air at the end of September in the U.K. Instead, the kids’ shows that are broadcasted on these networks will be offered on Disney+.

Disney Junior

A Disney representative has stated that “From October 1st, Disney+ will become the exclusive home for content from Disney Channel, DisneyXD and Disney Junior in the U.K.” However, the spokesperson also stated that Disney plans to “execute distribution agreements for Disney channels in many markets where Disney+ is also available.”

National Geographic and Fox will still be broadcasting on linear television in the U.K. at this time. Still, this marks Disney’s shift towards streaming its television and shows and movies exclusively through Disney+ and Disney-owned services.
