With production on hold due to the current global health crisis, many reality television shows have been delayed. This includes ABC’s The Bachelorette, which was originally set to begin production in March.
However, though The Bachelorette production may still be on hold, ABC is already looking forward to a new season of The Bachelor!
According to CNN, ABC has cast its first African American Bachelor Matt James as the star of the 25th season of the show. This will actually be the first Bachelor-related series that James will star on — though he was cast to be a suitor on the upcoming season of The Bachelorette, he may be best known for working on the non-profit ABC Food Tours with his best friend and previous The Bachelorette contestant Tyler Cameron, Matt will finally be bringing diversity into The Bachelor‘s leads.

Many fans and previous The Bachelor and The Bachelorette contestants signed a petition for the shows to start bringing more diversity to the cast. Acknowledging the lack of diversity, ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke stated, “We know we have a responsibility to make sure the love stories we’re seeing onscreen are representative of the world we live in, and we are proudly in service to our audience.”
We cannot wait to see Matt James as the Bachelor this season to steal our hearts again!
