Marriott CEO Arne Sorenson Announces He Won’t Be Taking a Salary for Remainder of Year

Businesses across the country have had to make drastic changes to their operations, including temporarily closing locations. One of the latest closures at the Disney World Resort came from the Swan and Dolphin Resorts.

The CEO of Marriott, the owners of the Swan hotel, has announced that, due to the circumstances, he will be taking a $0 salary for the rest of the year.

Arne Sorenson has become one of several company CEOs to take a pay cut during the crisis. In a video message, he responded, “I will not be taking any salary for the balance of 2020, and my executive team will be taking a 50% cut in pay.”

In that same video message to Marriott’s team, Sorenson said, “…COVID-19 is like nothing we’ve ever seen before.”
