The impressions left in my sofa by my couch potato self haven’t quite faded away yet from my former days of binge-watching Disney+, but my initial excitement over the streaming service has, I’m surprised to admit, dwindled.

That’s because once you dive into what seems to be a bottomless well of entertainment (over 7000 things to watch!), you might also eventually realize — it isn’t. At least, it isn’t for me.
While Disney+’s original series such as The Mandalorian, The World According to Jeff Goldblum and Highschool Musical: The Musical: The Series, were once my go-tos after work, they seem to have run their course in my entertainment repertoire. I now find myself falling back into my old routine — aimlessly scrolling through the content of my former vice: Netflix. You see, Netflix seems to have reclaimed it’s #1 spot in my heart with Disney+ slowly becoming a more supplemental part of my daily TV intake.
It turns out, in my opinion at least, some of us just favor Netflix’s variety of content when compared to the Disney+ library. And to think, I actually used to complain about how many gritty crime dramas, reality TV shows, documentaries, and summer blockbuster movies there are on Netflix!

I’ve truly discovered I’m a Netflix with a side of Disney+ kinda person, and maybe you’re like me. You, too, were once spoiled by Netflix and had grown weary of its over-abundance of programming — which can skew a little too dark or mature for my personal taste at times. Or maybe you’d grown distant from another subscription service when Disney+ came on the scene, providing a much-welcome change from the old rigamarole.
But now, after streaming so many of Disney’s timeless movies and shows (which, don’t get me wrong, are totally classic and sweet!), I find myself craving a little more substance. You know, like a series with a lot of depth (and maybe a little grit) that I can really lose myself into! And Netflix is loaded with those!

For families, Disney+ makes a lot of sense. It’s a great, convenient service for your kiddos to watch all their favorite flicks and franchises from many devices, even while on-the-go (kids these days have it waaaay easier than it was for those of us who had to shuck open those VHS clamshell cases and operate a VCR the size of a microwave!) Plus if you look at just the numbers, Disney+ actually has 2000 or so more titles than Netflix, so there’s no shortage of things to watch.
I’ve just reached the realization that while I love Disney+, I find the titles on Netflix to be more interesting.

Currently, I’m signed up for one year of Disney+, but I’ll probably be thinking long and hard about renewing my subscription. Besides, most of the Disney movies I enjoy re-watching are ones I already own on Blu-Ray — and even though I didn’t have much use for them when I got Disney+, I held onto them — just in case!
