“Thor: Ragnarok” Director Taika Waititi in Talks to Develop Star Wars Film!

Taika Waititi is one of the hottest directors in Hollywood right now, thanks to his irreverent approach to telling impactful stories. Now, the director of What We Do In the Shadows and Jojo Rabbit is in talks to bring his signature style of storytelling to the world of Star Wars!

Of course, this wouldn’t be the first time Waititi has worked in a galaxy far, far away; in addition to playing the memorable role of IG-11 in The Mandalorianhe also directed the season finale of the Disney+ series. What will he bring to the next entry in this wildly popular franchise?

Waititi has worked with Disney in the past, serving as the director of Thor: Ragnarok, as well as the voice of Korg, the gladiator and activist with a perpetual shortage of pamphlets. He’s also set to write and direct the sequel, Thor: Love and Thunder, coming in 2021.

We don’t know what project Waititi could be potentially in talks for. No official plans have been made yet, and it’s possible these talks will fizzle out into nothing. We likely won’t know much until the future of the franchise is announced at Star Wars Celebration this August, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated on any new developments!
