Six Reasons You Should Stay at Walt Disney World’s Polynesian Village Resort

Since 1971, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has been one of the top Walt Disney World Resort hotel destinations. It isn’t hard to see why. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is a true “island getaway” in the heart of the Walt Disney World Resort.

Polynesian Village Resort is a Deluxe Resort, which means all the wonderful things you read about below come with a price tag to match. But if you can swing a stay at Polynesian Village, the Resort will likely help make your vacation one to remember.

Today we are sharing six reasons we think you should stay at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

The Dining

Polynesian Village Resort boasts a robust list of dining options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

With classics such as ‘Ohana, Kona Cafe, Capt. Cook’s, and Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto there is a dining option for everyone in your travel party.

Polynesian Village Resort is also home to Disney’s Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show — a colorful luau, complete with an all-you-care-to-enjoy feast, fire-knife performers, and traditional Polynesian dancing.

One of our favorite character dining experiences, the Best Friends Breakfast featuring Lilo and Stitch, is also located at Polynesian Village Resort’s ‘Ohana.

Stitch at ‘Ohana

This character breakfast features Lilo, Stitch, Mickey, and Pluto. The food is served all-you-care-to-enjoy family-style and includes eggs, sausage links, bacon, potatoes, and seasonal fruit. Families are also served a delicious POG juice, a blend of pineapple, orange, and guava!

As if that weren’t enough, I have two words for you: Dole Whip. Yes, you can find Dole Whip at Pineapple Lanai in Polynesian Village Resort. Dole Whip lovers, rejoice!

The Amenities and Recreation

Guests staying at Polynesian Village Resort are offered a wealth of amenities. One of our favorites is the Electrical Water Pageant. This shimmering spectacle is a nighttime water parade that takes place on the Seven Seas Lagoon and can be viewed from Polynesian Village Resort.

It features sparkling sea creatures cruising the Lagoon to some of your favorite Disney tunes!

You can also find boat rentals, movies under the stars, campfire activities, volleyball, and even fishing at Polynesian Village Resort. The magic is endless!

The Decor

When you visit Polynesian Village Resort, you are instantly transported to the South Pacific.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Lobby

There’s no “flip-flopping” when it comes to the theming at Polynesian Village Resort. Cast Members are decked out in fabulous floral patterns and leis. The lobby smells like a tropical paradise. Even the music instantly transports you to a Polynesian oasis!

The outdoor areas feature beautiful palm trees, glimmering pools, and a Mickey-made volcano (don’t worry, this won’t erupt — except with giggles from kids on the slide!).

The decor is truly immersive, making it one of the most beloved Disney Resort hotels on property for the decor alone. It’s the perfect spot for those in serious need of some Vitamin SEA. 😉

The Drinks

Some of the best drinks on property are located at Polynesian Village Resort. Home to the whimsical Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto and Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace, Polynesian Village Resort offers unique drink options and the perfect way to unwind after a long day in the theme parks.

Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto

We are huge fans of the ambiance, decor, and entertainment offered at Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto. Does the name ‘Trader Sam’ sound familiar? Trader Sam is the “head” salesman on the Jungle Cruise at Magic Kingdom, and he is ready to serve up his “two heads of the price of one” deals at Grog Grotto. We really enjoy looking through his ancient artifacts, exotic treasures, and shrunken head collection while sipping on a tropical libation.

The Fireworks View

Polynesian Village Resort offers one of the best Happily Ever After fireworks  views outside of Magic Kingdom! As a Guest of Polynesian Village Resort, you have the option of watching the fireworks from the Resort’s beach area. If you decide to upgrade your room accommodations to a “Theme Park View” room, you will be able to see them from your private balcony!

You will be blown away by the amazing view. Additionally, the Happily Ever After soundtrack is played over the speakers at Polynesian Village Resort — truly immersing you in the magic!

The Monorail

As one of the three “Monorail Resort hotels”, Polynesian Village Resort has one of the best transportation options on Walt Disney World Resort property!

Monorail System

The Resort Monorail makes stops at Magic Kingdom Park, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, the Transportation and Ticket Center, and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

It is also just one transfer from Polynesian to Epcot, making this the perfect Resort hotel for Guests traveling with little ones or who want to get around property in a convenient and quick manner that’s also fun.

Epcot Monorail

Overall, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is a terrific option when it comes to Walt Disney Resort accommodations. It is not only beautiful to the eyes but also rich in amenities, fantastic food, and unique drinks.

  1. Wish Disney would remove the word “Resort” from the official name of the resort. Disney’s Polynesian Village is much, much better than Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
