It’s no secret Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is highly anticipated, and crowds are expected to be at record levels. One group of people who won’t be in those crowds are Disney Cast Members and Cast Member friends and family using either Cast Member or “Friends and Family” passes to Disneyland’s Parks.

A look at the Cast Member block-out calendar for the Friends and Family Main Entrance Passes, and Cast Member Employee Self-Admission Passes shows this is one step Disney is taking to manage crowds.
Starting on May 16, 2019, Cast Members’ Main Entrance Passes (for Friends and Family) are blocked out at both Disneyland and California Adventure.

Starting on May 18, 2019, Cast Members’ Main Entrance Passes (for Friends and Family) and Employee Self-Admission Passes (passes Cast Members use themselves) are both blocked out at Disneyland. Cast Members can still use their Employee Self-Admission Passes at California Adventure, with the Main Entrance Passes remain blocked out at this park as well.

On Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opening day, May 31, 2019, all Cast Member passes, both Main Entrance Passes and Employee Self-Admission Passes, are blocked out for both parks into and through July, 2019.

The Cast Member pass schedule for August in Disney World is to be determined at this point in time. Remember, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens in Disney World’s Hollywood Studios on August 29, 2019, so block-out dates there could also be likely.

I feel really bad for cast members. They were hired with the perk of at least being able to get themselves in, and that’s what many of them do for low cost entertainment on their days off. Going back on that, they should be compensated in some other way. Disney is basically saying it’s going to be more crowded than a holiday…for at LEAST FOUR MONTHS…and don’t employees get paid more on holidays? Disney needs to consider how difficult the work load is about to become. Can you really afford for CM morale to plummet?
They were hired to do their assigned jobs and collect a pay check for that. Most WDW employees actually work for the money, not to feed their Disney addiction.
