Where is the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel?
The Courtyard by Marriott is part of a strip of hotels called the Downtown Disney Resort Area Hotels . These hotels are located on Hotel Plaza Boulevard, a small road which leads to Downtown Disney. The Courtyard by Marriott is located about one to one and 1/2 blocks from the Downtown Disney Marketplace .
It's mailing address is: 1805 Hotel Plaza Boulevard, P.O. Box 22204 Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830
Is it located on Walt Disney World Property?
Yes. It is an Official Hotel of Walt Disney World , which means it is located on Disney property and offers some of the same advantages given to guests in the Disney-owned resort properties.
Is it owned by the Disney Company?
No. The Courtyard by Marriott and the other Downtown Disney Resort Area Hotels are independently owned. This one, as the name implies, is run by Marriott International, Inc.
It is listed as a 3-star (***) hotel at AAA and Mobil Travel Guide.
What does a typical room contain?
There are a total of 14 floors, and 323 rooms (and 2 suites).
A typical room contains 2 double beds or 1 king bed, bureau, night stand, a coffeemaker, color remote-control cable/satellite TV, an in-room safe, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, radio alarm clock, table, small bench and 2 chairs. Cribs are also available, just ask at the front desk.
The in-room safe is different from the safes in Disney-owned resorts. At a Disney-owned resort, the safe is small and embedded into a wall. It also uses a key. At the Courtyard, the safe is much larger (in fact, I was able to store my very large camera bag inside it with plenty of room to spare), and it is bolted to the floor. The lock is programmable, so instead of having to carry around a key all day you just have to memorize a 4-digit number!
Currently, the cable channels include the Disney Channel and HBO , which is not available at Disney-owned resorts! Also, during the week, a USA TODAY newspaper is delivered to your door.
Room views are as follows:
From the tower rooms…you will either have a view of the Downtown Disney Area (Marketplace, Pleasure Island, and The West Side) , or of the Orlando Skyline. From the courtyard rooms, you will have a pool view or a courtyard view.
Does the hotel have elevators, or just stairwells?
There are three elevators in the center of the building. Two of them are glass enclosed elevators that give a great view of the open air lobby. There are also staircases on the corners of the building, and on odd-numbered floors, there is an ice machine and snack machine just behind them.
Does it offer all of the amenities provided to guests at Disney-owned Resorts?
A few of the amenities are the same and most are different. The Downtown Disney Resort Area Hotels operate their own transit system. Therefore, if you wish to ride the Walt Disney World transit system, you must either have a passport which provides use of the transit system or purchase a bus pass. In addition, while guests are allowed to make reservations at Walt Disney World restaurants and golf courses under the same auspices as Disney -owned resort guests are not allowed to use other resorts' swimming pools.
They now participate in the E-Ticket nights. Double check with the front desk at check-in.
Does it offer amenities which are not available to Disney-owned Resort guests?
Yes. The Courtyard by Marriott gives each guest a Downtown Disney Value Discount Passport which allows the guest to use the Downtown Disney transit system, and also provides discounts to several restaurants and attractions in the Downtown Disney Area . These cards are not given to guests at Disney-owned resorts.
How does the Downtown Disney Area Hotels transit system work?
Busses leave for and return from the Magic Kingdom , Epcot , and The Disney-MGM Studios every 30 minutes from one hour prior to park opening until 2 hours after park closing. The Magic Kingdom bus drops you off at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC). From there you need to transfer to the monorail, or the ferryboat.
Buses to and from Disney's Animal Kingdom pick up and return every 30 minutes to an hour (based on peak usage times) from one hour prior to park opening until 2 hours after park closing.
Buses to Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach have varying schedules based upon the month you are visiting. Check with the front desk upon arrival. There is no direct transportation to River Country .
Buses to the Downtown Disney area leave for and return every 30 minutes from 6:00 PM to 3:00 AM, however it is within easy walking distance.
For transportation to any other Disney area, simply take the Magic Kingdom bus to the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC), and transfer there.
Do you have any advice as to how to best use the transit systems?
Yes. If you have one-day, one park tickets, you're stuck with the hotel's transit system, and have no other options. However, if you have any multi-day pass, you can use Disney-owned transportation to get around. If the hotel's bus does not leave at the time you want to go, then take a Disney-owned bus to the Downtown Disney Marketplace and walk back to your hotel, or take a bus from the Downtown Disney Marketplace to another point if you find the Downtown Disney Resorts' transit system inconvenient.
Is there a place at the Courtyard by Marriott to purchase tickets?
Yes. There is a Disney-owned souvenir shop, called The Disney Shop , which offers ticket sales and other merchandise and sundries.
Does the Courtyard by Marriott have an on-site rental car desk?
Yes, the hotel has a Dollar Car Rental desk. Call the hotel for the most current rate information and details.
Is parking a problem? Do I need to pay for parking?
Parking is not a problem, as their seem to be sufficient space. Normal "park-it-yourself" parking is free; valet parking is extra, call for current rates.
Can I walk from the Courtyard by Marriott to the Downtown Disney Marketplace?
Yes, it is an easy 5 or 10 minute walk, depending on how leisurely you stroll.
Can I walk from the hotel to the Goodings Shopping Center?
Yes, it is an easy 15 or 20 minute walk, however if you plan to get a large load of groceries, I would recommend hailing a cab (it's such a short distance that it should be only a few dollars.) However, a party of healthy adults who are looking for a less expensive dinner should have no problems.
What dining facilities does the hotel offer?
Breakfast 2 Go is located in the lobby. It's a deli market for light breakfast snacks. Tipsy Parrot is located in the lobby as well, and serves snacks, light meals and beverages.
By the pool is a small snack bar called the Tiki Bar , which serves light snacks and beverages.
The hotel's restaurant is called the Courtyard Cafe & Grille and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Village Deli, which serves Pizza Hut pizza and TCBY Yogurt, is only open for lunch and dinner. Both of these restaurants are located in a separate building adjacent to the the hotel. It is right next to the front entrance, so it is not difficult to get to. The restaurant serves a cheap buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Room Service is also available.
What recreational opportunities does the Courtyard by Marriott offer?
2 heated outdoor swimming pools, a small children's pool, a whirlpool spa, an exercise room, and a game room. Reservations at the Disney golf courses can also be arranged. Also, the Courtyard by Marriott is close enough to the Downtown Disney Area to take advantage of the recreational opportunities there, such as boating and fishing.
What are typical rates for this hotel?
Non-discounted rates are typically $129-$199. However, a AAA card can cut these rates considerably.
Also, you can generally get a better deal on rooms through Hotel Discounts or Expedia. than you can through the hotel.
By becoming a member of Marriott Rewards you can earn points that are good for free hotel stays or frequent flier miles on your favorite airline.
How do you get reservations for this hotel?

What are the check-in and check-out times?
Normal check-in time is 4:00 PM, and check-out time is 11:00 AM. However, by checking in early you may be able to get a room by accepting something other than what you reserved. For example, if you reserved a room with a king-sized bed, you may be able to check in early if you accept a room with 2 double beds.
Check out time can usually be extended until 1:00 PM, but you must call the night before checkout to request it.
Express Check-In and Check-Out are available to guests using credit cards.
Are pets allowed?
No pets are allowed, except for guide dogs.
Do you have any special tips for people staying at the Courtyard by Marriott?
* Ask for a tower room facing Downtown Disney (where you can see the fireworks every night at midnight) or facing the Grovensnor Hotel across the street. This direction gives you a lovely view of the Contemporary Resort and Space Mountain in the distance! .
* If you are on your honeymoon, be certain to tell the reservationist. Honeymooners get first priority on king rooms.
* If you are at a park and want to return before the hotel's scheduled bus is due to leave, and you have a pass with use of the Disney Transportation System included, take a bus to the Downtown Disney Marketplace or Downtown Disney Pleasure Island and walk back.
