Review of Pop Century Resort (Value Resort)

We stayed in September of 2017. The room was a King Bed in the 50s set of rooms. We were ground floor and had the old rooms that hadn't be refurbished yet. This was my 6th stay at Pop and it was another delightful one! We landed just before MCO closed in preparation for Irma. I've been to Disney close to 15 times, so I was very interested to see how the resort handled the hurricane. The parks were closed for 2 days, so we had to hang around the resort for those 2 days. We walked around, read the signs, played Pokemon and headed over to Art of Animation as well. Being able to walk to AoA makes this resort an even better destination. Not only can you go Everything Pop's food court but you also get Landscape of Flavors at AoA. The walk is very pleasant. Our only complaint is the food we were offered because of the hurricane. I understand Disney needed to get sandwiches and salads to resort guests so the guests have food while the resort is closed, but it put a damper on having the dining plan. Besides that, this is far and away the best value resort. The cost is just a few dollars more a night than the all stars, but Pop doesn't seem to get the large tourist groups or the large sports teams. It isn't the newest value, AoA is, but AoA is usually discounted less, or doesn't get the free dining plan offered at all. Pop gets the free dining plan, has a large food court, a dedicated bus service, newly refurbished rooms across the resort (now), and has the AoA food court access. I love Pop Century and will always choose Pop as my home resort when I am visiting.

Our party of ten booked three standard rooms, requesting two of them be connecting and that the third room be close by. We were in Hoops Hotel, with two connecting rooms and the third room next door.
Upon arrival all ten of us received celebration buttons: three first visit, one graduation, one birthday, four anniversary, & one just celebrating life, because CM said everyone needs a button! DD also received a birthday balloon and signed card from Mickey at check in.
All CM's we encountered throughout the week were very nice and helpful. The rooms were small, but clean, and if you are organized, it's not a problem. The only two issues I saw were that the bathroom needs to be painted again & the "kickplate" on the table between the beds was coming apart at the bottom. These rooms are scheduled for a refurb later this year, so those things should be resolved.
The breakfast at the food court was good except for the eggs. The drink/condiment station was constantly being cleaned except for our last night there & it was wreck. There was no sweet tea & only one of the unsweet tea dispensers was working. Part of the seating in the food court was closed off & we used the extra seating in the arcade one morning.

We stayed in the Lion King Suite with 4 adults.
First, the only negative. The master bedroom seems to be larger than necessary which leaves the rest of the room smaller.
Normally our group gets two rooms at a moderate resort. Now we get the suite. The advantages are numerous. Mainly, it keeps our group together rather than having to separate, even with connecting rooms. We found converting the sofa and table beds very easy to do, taking only seconds. And while not quite a nice as regular beds perhaps, they were good enough for some large size adults. And on this trip we even used an air-bed spread on the floor with no problem. So the stories that these are hard to set up and that there's no place to put the cushions are not accurate.
The only inconvenience may be that an early riser might want to use the table or sofa before the sleeper is up. As for the suite, watching TV from a sofa is far nicer than from your bed. And having a coffee maker in a kitchenette rather than in the bathroom is ideal. Then there's also a fridge and microwave and some plates and utensils as well.
The rest of the resort is standard I guess, and we prefer the food court across the lake at Pop Century to the one at AOA.

Visited during the Flower Garden Fest in May.
While very crowded most of the time, we did have fast passes for the 2 attractions so that wasn't a problem. When you first enter
Pandora, you are immediately taken there in every respect. The smells and sights are extreme. The land is designed so that you feel you really are in another place. Even the 2 attractions are hidden from your normal view. I was surprised that when walking around Pandora that the entire land seemed somewhat smaller than I expected. It literally takes about 10 minutes to traverse the entire area. Besides the 2 attractions which are hidden, there's a shop, a quick serve spot, the restaurant and the restrooms. That's everything.
With the very impressive bio-luminescent plants everywhere you need make sure you visit at night as well as during the less crowded early morning.
Restaurant is different but good and we ate there twice. Flight attraction is sorta like an intense 3D Soarin' and is outstanding.
Navi River is a quiet boat trip through Pandora.
Note that having seen the movie may increase the interest in the Navi River attraction but the Flight is great either way.

I have to say this resort is one of my favorites. I have stayed here four times, some of which was for marathon weekend. The atmosphere of this resort is both romantic and homey, and makes me feel like I stepped right into the Princess and the Fog. I love the way the resort is able to melt the Bayou section right into the mansions. I found the food court to be above average. the only draw back I can find for families wit young children is the potential for a long walk back to the room if you are way back in the bayou. As an adult I didn't mind the walk, I found it to be scenic and relaxing, but for tired kids it might be a bit much.

This resort is absolutely fantastic. I may be biased because it was the first Disney resort I had ever stayed at when I was 11 years old. I have since stayed here four additional times and I have found more and more reasons to come back here. From the overall ambiance to the extreme attention to detail, this resort is breath taking. I have stayed in both the savanna and standard rooms and can't think of a single complaint, I was even able to see some animals from the standard view. The food here is also very good, quick service included. I have found this resort both romantic and adventurous and coming back here feels like home. The pool and hot tubs are amazingly themed and are friendly for all ages.

We arrived with 4 adults right at peak lunch time. The line went out of the door and wrapped around and around. So one party member got our table saved while we waited in line. Surprisingly for how busy it was, the staff was extremely organized and we didn't wait in line that long after all. We ordered 3 of the meals that included the cheese burgers, fries, drink and dessert at what I would say was a real value for a theme park. Another ordered the fish sandwich. Our reason for selecting this restaurant was primarly that it was very hot and sunny after the earlier rain so if felt very comfortable in there. Normally we eat at FlameTree. We miss Pecos Bill's cheeseburger with Fixin's but now have found a new favorite spot.

This place is incredible and the restaurants are even better. The highlight of our early June trip was during a rain we saw a young giraffe playing tag with its mother for about 15 minutes. We stayed in room 4343 was gave us an incredible view of the savanna (and is a standard view). The only negative the busses to Magic Kingdom seemed to get lost a lot because unlike all of the other busses they never arrived in a timely manner.

This is a breakfast buffer and as such did its job well. We ate there before half of my daughters relatives went home and there were a lot of good food comments. I only gave it a 7 because it is just a buffet even if it did its job well
