My daughter and her cousin attend the Wonderland Tea Party in November 2015. The tea is held at the Grand Floridian in a room right off the front entrance. Of the dozen kids that were there, maybe half were in costume. Parents do not go into the tea room with the kids but you get a quick look at the start and you can also hang around to see Alice and the Mad Hatter make their entrance. According to my daughter (5) and her cousin (12) the tea party was very fun. They decorated cupcakes and flower pots and everyone got to interact with the characters. There is a photo pass photographer inside and they do a lot of candid and posed photos. If you are looking for a special event that won't break the bank, this is a great option.
Pros:
Fun, good value, character interactionCons:

My two children (5 & 7) and their cousin (4) went on this pirate cruise at the end of 2015. You check the kids in at a little boat house on the lagoon and a Disney staff member helps the kids get some pirate gear on (bandana, life vest, etc).
The woman who led the cruise was very calm, patient and motherly and the kids felt pretty much instantly comfortable with her. She also had an assistant, so there is a good staff to kid ratio for the cruise. Once the cruise started, I went with my SIL to the Madaras Spa at the Dolphin for a quick manicure. Since the cruise is 2 hours you definitely have time to plan something in the vicinity before you pick up your kids.
When we came back about 1.5 hours later, we got to see the kids coming back on their boat yelling at "Captain Stinkyfeet" who was back on shore. According to the kids the who cruise was based off of finding this treasure that Stinkyfeet had hid. They cruised through the World Showcase in Epcot and then brought their treasure chest back to the Yacht Club. Once everyone was back on shore they opened the chest and inside were small treasure chests filled with things like fake jewels, a pirate rubber duck, tattoos, etc.
For the cost, this is a really great value. All three kids loved it and want to do it again. If your kid loves pirates or anything imaginative, this is a great experience to enjoy.
Pros:
Fun, imaginative play, location, value, pirates, independent kids activityCons:

We stayed at Pop in December 2015 for 4 nights. Two adults and 12 and 17 yr old. This was our first stay at a value resort, having previously stayed at PO Riverside (moderate). We were expecting to be disappointed but were thrilled with Pop. We were in the 70s section (by the giant Mickey phone) and it was ideal- very close to the main pool, food court/gift shop, laundry and the bus stops. The bus system at Pop was a million times better than at Riverside. We had a surprise of welcome balloons in our room the and staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. Food court was always clean and there was a big variety. Yes, the rooms are small and without any frills, but we spent most of our time in the parks anyway. I would choose Pop again.
Pros:
buses, cast members, food courtCons:

The resort was decorated nicely. Food court a little crazy in the morning which was expected. Large groups of people as it was the princess marathon weekend. Not a lot of noise in room from the groups. Only draw back to resort was where the smoking section was located near our room. We had to walk through a hazy of smoke to get into our room. We were in building 10 of the 70s section. Bus service was good. Didn't wait long at the end of the day.

The food was good with the exception of the Van's gluten free waffles. All other sit down breakfasts made fresh Mickey Waffles. These were brought to the table with no butter or syrup. The server was no where to be found to get these items.

We love it here! We split the chicken platter which is plenty of food for us. Place was quiet so easy to grab a booth & have a nice relaxing meal out of the sun without feeling rushed.

The homemade omelet was good. However it took 10 minutes for a chef to come out to speak to us, then another 10 minutes for the omelet to be made. Not a great value on the dining plan.
