Review of 1900 Park Fare Character Breakfast

We were at the last seating -- 11:40 am -- but the food was still hot and plentiful and the character experience -- Mad Hatter, Alice, Tigger, Winnie the Pooh, Mary Poppins -- was fine. Very professional service, and the food was very good for a buffet, and fairly extensive, with the strawberry soup, omelet station, and bananas foster sauce being some of the standout items. For a character breakfast, and for the Grand Floridian, I'd say the price paid was relatively low, and a good value. The character experience is relatively lowkey -- a plus for us, but not necessarily for everyone.

Always our "special night out" meal at WDW.
We had the Cold Water Mussels and Jumbo Lump Crab Cake appetizers - this was DD first try at steamed mussels - she's 11 and loved them.
DD had the "Coast to Farm" Pan Fired Halibut and Glazed Pork Belly - not a single speck left on the plate.
DW and I had Hickory Char-crusted Filet Mignon - same.
This was the busiest night We have ever experienced at Artist Point - I was worried we would see a slip in service - nope! Wonderful evening.

11/01/14 and 11/07/14 - we ate here two times. On a cold evening the fried seafood and chowder were superb - crunchy, hot and yummy! On a sunny warm day, the lobster roll was grand!

Simply the best Counter Service meal we have ever had. We had the braised pork and the seared tuna salad.
This is still a work in prosess - the Cast Members are a little overwhelmed by the popularity of BOG and I am sure they will work out the kinks soon.

11/08/14 - I have always enjoed Casey's Corner. This vist I had the polish sausage with caramelized onions and stone ground mustard - a great flavor combo! The bun was cold and somewhat stale - really needed to be steamed or grilled to warm it up and bring it back to life.
I really missed the continuious loop of Goofy sports cartoon that used to be shown in the back room.

We have eaten at this restaurant many times. California Grill used to be our favorite, but since they changed the menu there, Narcoossee's has taken the top spot for us. The filet is absolutely delicious! My husband really enjoyed the pork chop. Being on the water, the view is spectacular... With all the lights reflecting on the water at night. We love watching the fireworks from here!

We stayed a couple of days at the Poly before checking into Grand Floridian. We had not stayed at the Poly since the rooms were updated, and we were really impressed! We had avoided the Poly because the rooms used to be very dark and only had one sink in the bathroom. Now the rooms have been brightened up without losing the Hawaiian vibe, and the bathroom has been completely redone!
The view from the club lounge is one of the best on property (really nice for fireworks viewing). I will admit that the construction is annoying and takes away from the beauty of the resort, but this will not last forever. We were able to go to Blizzard Beach free of charge since the volcano pool is under construction, but there was a warm front when we were there a few weeks ago, so it was 90 degrees outside. With cooler temps coming, swimming May not matter to you. If you want a magic kingdom view room, request one closer to the lounge to avoid views of the construction. But if you want to sleep in, request a room on the garden side at the opposite end from the lounge. I based my rating on the club level alone, and tried not to let the construction influence the club level rating too much. The club level itself was good. When there was a problem with our room ( I have older kids that like to sleep in and were disturbed by morning construction) they quickly moved us to another room. The staff was very nice and the food offerings were ok. The mid-day snacks were extremely slim compared to other club levels on property. They had goldfish crackers and wasabi snack mix. However, my husband liked their selection of beer, and I loved the Tropical/island sangria. You can't get the sangria anywhere else. I will say that we would try to avoid the resort until after the construction, but because of the construction, it seems a little easier to get a room there.... Rooms in the monorail loop book up fast.

We went to the opening night this year. The crowds were terrible. It was like a regular park day. We have gone to the Party before and it was much less crowded.
At the beginning of the night, every time we took a step, we were being asked to show our bracelets. After about an hour, no one asked anymore, and people clearly did not have one. I noticed many people not wearing bracelets in the lines.
The fireworks were nice, but again, with being such a crowded night, finding a space to view was nearly impossible. We arrived at the park around 5, and people were already camped out for the night in front of the castle for the evening.
The cookies were not very tasty, and the hot chocolate was gone in about three sips. Also, the lines were extremely long everywhere for snacks.
The snow on Main Street was very pretty and so was the castle after Elsa "froze" it.
I don't think I will personally return to the party due to the large crowds and the high price tag...

We took the ferry ride here from MK (which was really nice, btw) one night on our recent trip to WDW, and were very glad we did.
While we were initially quite confused (and could tell many others were, too) by the ordering procedure, once we figured it out, it was actually nice. Get your sides/desserts/drinks first, then place your entree order with the cashier. When your food is ready, they'll bring it to your table - a nice touch for a quick service restaurant.
Our food was good overall. I got the Wilderness Chicken Sandwich. My only issue was my own failure to ask what was in the Wilderness sauce, only to find out after I got it that it has horseradish in it, and I'm really not a fan of that. It also has some fruit in it I think...maybe raspberry, cranberry, or pomegranate. Not sure. It cut into the horseradish taste somewhat, but not enough for me. I wiped it off with a napkin and survived just fine. Other than that, the sandwich was good. My wife got the pulled pork, which was good. Both of my kids got burgers and enjoyed them.
The desserts really made the meal, though. I got the Magic Cookie Bar, which was easily the best thing I ate all week. SO GOOD! My only issue was that it was so big. It's really rich, and I learned that you really can have too much of a good thing. If you're gonna get the Magic Cookie Bar (and you should!), plan on splitting it with someone or saving some for later. It was just too rich for me to eat the whole thing in one sitting. My son got the Smores cupcake and really liked that. My wife was going to get the Strawberry Lemonade cupcake, but it was a summertime seasonal option, and was gone when we got there. We opted for its replacement - the Caramel Apple cupcake, and were more than satisfied with it.
All in all, as long as you know the procedure going in, you won't be disappointed by this little QS spot. Plan a boat ride over there, and enjoy a really good meal.
