Review of Disney After Hours - Magic Kingdom

This was probably one of the best experiences I’ve ever had at magic kingdom out of the many times I’ve gone. If you have the opportunity this is a must do for me and something I will try to do every trip I go on moving forward.

Pros:

There are limited ticket amounts given out for these events and because almost every ride at magic kingdom is open this leads to practically no wait for any ride. I ride splash mountain twice in a row without getting out of the ride vehicle because there was no line. You can get in earlier then the event starts with your ticket and without a park ticket. Waters and ice cream are complimentary. The best part is walking around the park with virtually no one else with you.

Cons:

The price is kind of expensive but well worth it and you can get discounts with annual pass or Disney vacation club. Also leaving after the event was rather challenging because it ends so late the buses are not running often so we waited for a long time for a bus to come. We were staying at the Polynesian and figured we can just hop on the monorail but they stopped running prior to the party ending.

Review of Caring for Giants - Animal Kingdom

I recently did this experience during my trip in January and it was such a different and interesting experience. We always look for something new to do, so when we found this it was perfect. Highly recommend doing the last tour times they run we did the 3 or 3:30 and it was only my family on the tour which made it super personalized.

Pros:

Views of backstage areas of animal kingdom, amazing views of the elephants on the savana which leads to amazing pictures, and informative cast members with so much information about both the animals and conservation efforts.

Cons:

There are no cons for this experience except maybe the price.

Wonderful character meet with lots of added fun. The kids get to participate in a retelling if the story while the parents have a comfortable and air conditioned place to watch. The interaction with Belle at the end is great and the PhotoPass photographers produce great pictures. Note that Belle doesn’t sign autographs but each kid gets a ‘signed’ bookmark.

Pros:

Great interaction and fun for all ages. Air conditioned space.

Cons:

Relatively long attraction.

Price! Good price for the room...

Cons:

Our room was one of the furthest out and it was a good hike after a long day at the parks

Wonderful stay, the beds were comfortable, very clean, super nice! Close to the Magic Kingdom but not too close. Not very noisy father area!

Pros:

Close to the Magic Kingdom but not too close. Felt like you were in your own area.

Cons:

Our room was a good distance from the lobby. Also some must not have received room service and just set stuff outside their room. Although housekeeping was quick to clean it up if notified!

Have been bringing our kids here for decades. It has been great for school age to teens and now with the grand kids.

Pros:

Easy walking access to two parks. Enjoy the many restaurants available nearby as well as in Epcot

Cons:

Leaving at the end of our trips.

Review of Port Orleans French Quarter (Moderate Resort)

HOTEL ROOMS: Clean and well kept, not much Disney theming, but get that in the parks .Rooms recently refurbished. Beds very comfortable, on the soft side. Pillow top mattress. Toiletries (shampoo, cream rinse and shower gel) now mounted in large bottles on the wall of the shower. Small Body lotion and facial soap near sink area. Two sinks outside of tub area. Curtain between sleeping area and bathroom. You can get ready while others still sleeping. Small fridge provided, but not very cold. No freezer. Coffee maker provided. No alarm clock. Can call for wake-up if needed. Beds are now open underneath them, great for storing luggage.

GROUNDS: Beautiful and well maintained. Smaller resort (one of the best features).
Short walking distance to pool, transportation and restaurant. Great pool and playground for small children. New Orleans theming. Bar near pool area. Hot tub steps away from pool in a more secluded spot.

TRANSPORTATION: Bus service greatly improved from our last visit a few years ago. We did not share a bus with Riverside. Never waited more than 10 min for a bus. Downtown Disney only a 15 min boat ride, very enjoyable. Prefer over a bus anytime.
We did occassionally use Lyft on the way home from parks, when we were tired and didn't want to wait for a crowded bus. Approx. $10-12 depending on the park.

FOOD: Quick service restaurant on site, food with New Orleans theming, Some on the spicy side. But can find plenty of things without spice. Pretty much on par with all hotel quick services. Only sit-down restaurant is at Riverside, a beautiful 12 min walk along the river to Riverside. We used the Garden Grocer to have water and snacks delivered right to our resort. Works like a charm, you get notified of delivery and then just have to have bell services deliver it to your room. You do have to be present in room to receive your order.

STAFF: Very friendly and helpful.

I have stayed in many Disney Hotels over the years. Deluxes are my favorites. But not always affordable. This is a perfect compromise. Great hotel at a lower cost.
Would highly reccommend!

Date of stay: October 2018
Room tip: Buildings 2 & 5 closest to pool

Pros:

Smaller resort, boat ride to Disney Springs, beautiful walk to Riverside. Best hotel if not doing a deluxe

Cons:

I didn't experience this when we stayed last October, but during really crowded times might have to share buses with Riverside. Not a deluxe resort.
