This meal has gradually gone down hill since we first started coming here. Our first issue was with the characters. We sat for a very long time at the beginning of our meal and saw no characters. By the time our waitress brought the check we still had not seen 2 of the characters. I had to make our waitress aware of this so we could leave, because I was not paying for the meal until then. I also witnessed our waitress be very rude to a table next to us. They had a question and she looked at them and put her hand up and very rudely and said "I will be with you in a few minutes" repeatedly. The food quality is horrible. I couldn't find one appetizing thing on the buffet. It was horrible. The only reason I continue to come here is for the characters. It is not worth the cash!

Very disapointing! Big change since I ate here in 2010! Back then our whole party loved it! Ate here again over Marathon weekend with DH mostly because he loves the parmesean mashed potatoes. This time they were terrible! And the rest of the food was just mediocre. It was nice to see the characters and our server was nice but for the two of us, it cost about $90 including tip. Was not worth it and have crossed off our "must eat at" list.

Chef Mickey's is a classic restaurant and great for families and kids. The buffet has a wide variety of offerings and you get to see the characters. If you don't mind a busy, loud restaurant then check this one out, especially if you want to meet characters and eat at the same time.
Pros:
Food is pretty goodCons:

We ate at Chef Mickeys on March 30th...this was our second time eating at Chef Mickeys. We arrived 10 minutes prior to our reservation time and did not have to wait at all. My 3 year old dd was enamored with the characters. They were wonderful and we did not feel rushed.
The food was another story...not what I would consider high quality...even for Buffet food I was expecting better...I think the meatballs were from the frozen food section at a store...the bread was good...desserts were ok...the next time we visit WDW we will branch out and try something else.

The food was good, the gluten free dessert was really dry. the gluten free options were plentiful. We waited 80 minutes to see the fab 5.

Everyone who goes to Disney World should try to eat at Chef Mickely's once for the experience.
The food is standard buffet food although there is a large selection. Dessert selection seemed more limited than before (6 years ago). Characters are great at interacting with you. Service can be hit or miss.
You must have reservations for this restaurant and you may still wait for a table past the reservation time.
If you really don't care about Character Experiences and just want a good meal, then there are MANY other better choices in WDW.
Pros:
It is one of the signature restaurants - Fun AtmosphereCons:
Food is standard fare, not alot of variety - can be noisy. Overpriced if not on Dining PlanReviewed by bosslady79 Review Date: 01/17/2014

The characters are great, the food was not so good. The food was not hot, sometimes barely warm. Same food offered at cheaper places. Would much rather have breakfast here. My DD 10 wasn't feeling well and had to walk down a flight of stairs to get to the bathroom everytime.
Pros:
Characters, mickey shaped mac n cheese, dessertsCons:

Only part we really liked were the characters. We felt rushed by the wait staff. Food was okay. Will try to find another character meal with Mickey for next trip

I feel bad about giving Mickey's restaurant a low rating, and not recommending it. However, unless you have no other way to see these characters, it is not worth either dining plan credits or cash. There really was no salad to speak of, the fish was okay but I have gotten the seafood salad they put out at my local Chinese restaurant at home. Half my beef I couldn't eat because it was fat, and the pasta was very bland. Unfortunately, as much as I'd like to, I can't in good conscience rate Chef Mickey's dinner any higher. Maybe next time I'll try the breakfast. The chefs are doing a disservice to Mickey and the other characters.

We ate dinner here on 11/8/13. We were staying at the Contemporary, this was our arrival day and it was convenient. They were quick to seat us and the service was good as well. It was my nephew's birthday and they went WAY out of their way to make it special for him, for which I will be eternally grateful (and is the only reason I give them a 6).
The food was another story. We have been eating here for years. For the last few years, it has been for the characters (and not the food since the food has been in steady decline). It has the Fab 5, nattily dressed, making for great pics. After this trip, I think we may call it a day on this one. The choices on the buffet and the quality of the food have reached a level that has become unacceptable for what you pay (more so for dinner than breakfast, but I'm giving that one up as well). I found very little that was appetizing on the buffet and ate very little as a result. Our kids are getting older and pics with the characters are not as important to them anymore. We will probably look for better food and less characters in future trips to Disney.
