We Tried 10 NEW Snacks Around Disney World, But Not ALL Of Them Are Worth Your Time

Happy Fourth of July season! This time of year is filled with lots of specialty opportunities around Disney World, including special fireworks shows in EPCOT and Magic Kingdom.

Who’s ready for 4th of July treats?

Just like other special times of year, we really look forward to all the different snacks you can snag around the resort, and we put a HEAVY focus on those this time around. We headed around the entire resort to grab as many of the exclusive Fourth of July treats as we could, so you know which ones may or may not be worth it for your upcoming trip.

EPCOT

Starting off strong at Regal Eagle Smokehouse in EPCOT, we’ve got TWO offerings to check out. The first is Sam Eagle Star-Spangled Shortcake for $6.29, which is vanilla cake with strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, whipped cream, star sprinkles, and a Sam Eagle chocolate coin.

The Sam Eagle Star Spangled Shortcake

The berries were very prominent in this dish, and their flavors came through in each bite! The whipped cream melted into the shortcake and berries, which made the snack extra creamy. The sprinkles added a crunchy texture, but they didn’t have much flavor, which is normal for this type of sprinkles. The shortcake was light and fluffy, with a slightly buttery taste. The Sam Eagle coin had a crunchy texture but a lack of flavor.

Have some berries!

You can also grab The 1776 here for $6.49, which is a non-alcoholic drink with Blue raspberry, Sprite, and strawberry fruit juice-filled pearls.

The 1776

The blue raspberry syrup used only tinted the Sprite instead of adding any flavor, though the strawberry fruit juice-filled pearls at the bottom did add a pop of flavor when we were able to get one. The size of the straw gave us a lot of issues, especially when combined with the ice inside the drink. The popping pearls kept getting stuck in the straw, and when we’d try to get them out, the Sprite trapped in the straw would spill everywhere. The drink itself is beautiful and very patriotic, and while we liked the pearls when we could get them, we overall feel like this drink is a bit too much of a hassle.

Magic Kingdom

The Berry Shortcake at Columbia Harbour House isn’t new this year, but it was so delicious before, we wanted to snag it again this year. It’ll cost you $5.99 and is shortcake topped with mixed berries, whipped cream, and patriotic sprinkles.

The Berry Shortcake!

This one was a great, refreshing dessert for us! The most prominent flavor was easily the fresh strawberries and the strawberry puree. They were refreshing and sweet while adding a slight tartness as well. These flavors made the dessert more interesting in our opinion! The blueberries were more of a textural element than a flavorful one. The cream melted into the light, slightly spongy cake, making this one of the only desserts we hope will melt quickly.

Here’s a bite for you!

This was a light, easy-to-enjoy dessert, although you might not want to share it even if you could!

Disney World Hotels

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter

The Fourth of July Beignets are available at Scat Cat’s Club Café and Lounge for $9.79! These are Cinnamon sugar-dusted beignets with marshmallow sauce and apple pie filling.

Fourth of July Beignets

These are the same lovely, fluffy, and soft beignet bases we’re used to here at Scat Cat’s Club, which is already a win, and the cinnamon sugar flavor is all over in the best way. We were a little worried about the marshmallow drizzle at first, concerned it would be too much, but there was no need to fear. It just brings a vanilla flavor that reminds you of melted vanilla ice cream, and paired with the apple pie filling, this is a touch of Americana that will make you think of the Fourth of July.

YUM!

There’s also just enough apple pie filling to bring the flavor forward, but not too much that it becomes soggy, which is an impressive feat. There are enough of them to share, that’s for sure, but we think we’ll find ourselves getting these multiple times this season.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort

At Contempo Cafe, you’ll find the Fourth of July Cake for $6.79, which is Strawberry and lemon mousse and confetti cake covered in a hard chocolate shell.

Fourth of July Cake

The colorful center in this cake is such a fun surprise! The outer shell gives a satisfying crack when broken into, but is still easy to eat. The inside of the cake is a smooth, bouncy lemon mousse, similar to a cheesecake, which gives it a subtle citrus flavor, while the strawberry mousse in the center gives a brighter strawberry flavor that isn’t super artificial. Together, it’s fruity and fresh, great for a hot summer day.

Check out that inside!

There’s a thin vanilla cake layer at the bottom with small red and blue chips/specks that seemed to be there only for appearance, because it didn’t add too much to the taste. Overall, if you’re a fan of fruit flavors and don’t want something super messy, this is a great choice!

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

You’ll want to head over to Kona Island to grab the Chocolate Covered Bacon, which has returned! It’ll cost you $4.25 and is exactly what it sounds like — a piece of bacon covered in chocolate! We grabbed two different versions to try, starting with the Dark Chocolate Tajin.

Dark Chocolate Tajin

The Tajin really helps break through the richness of the dark chocolate, creating a gorgeous balance between flavors. The Tajin is smoky and spicy and gives enough of a bite on the backend to really set this treat apart. If you like unique, more complicated flavors, this is the one for you.

Consider us big fans!

You can also grab the Star Spangled Bacon, which is bacon covered in dark chocolate, as well as colorful, white chocolate stripes and white chocolate stars. While this doesn’t have the same kick as the other one, which we did find to miss a bit, if you’re not a fan of those more intense flavors, and you want something a bit more traditional, this is for you.

Star Spangled Bacon

When tasting the bacon by itself from the bottom of the treat, it’s clear that they use peppered bacon; however, the pepper doesn’t come through on the bites from the chocolate-covered portion. We recommend taking a small bite from the bottom and taking a small bite at the top to create a better-balanced bite.

Disney’s Beach Club Resort

We also swung by Beaches and Cream for the Star Spangled Shake for $16, which is a Berries and vanilla-flavored milkshake with confetti cake ice pop, whipped cream, and red, white, and blue star sprinkles

Star Spangled Shake

This is a pretty thick shake, and while the main flavor is vanilla, a berry flavor (mostly blueberry) does come through subtly. It’s topped with a funfetti cake pop that’s soft, dense, and slightly chewy, but the coating on the outside tasted more like fondant, which we weren’t the biggest fan of. The shake itself is certainly the star of the show, and we recommend it for those who are looking for a mostly vanilla-forward flavor, but aren’t opposed to a bit of a fruit undertone!

Disney’s BoardWalk

BoardWalk Deli is home to the Strawberry Shortcake Cupcake. It’ll cost you $6.99 and is made with Vanilla sponge, strawberry filling, chantilly cream, and white chocolate pinwheel.

Strawberry Shortcake Cupcake

This wanted to fall apart the moment we got our hands on it, but we understand why! It’s a light, fluffy classic yellow cake that is crumbly in the best possible way, filled with strawberry filling, and topped with whipped cream. It’s so light and fruity that it tastes like summer in one bite!

SO soft and delicious!

If you’re a fan of strawberry shortcake normally, this 100% is a must-grab for you; you won’t be disappointed!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

The Mara has TWO snacks available for the season. The Strawberry Cheesecake is $6.79 and is vanilla bean cheesecake, strawberry coulis, and white chocolate collar.

The Strawberry Cheesecake

This was a nice surprise for us! The cheesecake was super light and fluffy, but the strawberry coulis was the star of the show. It tasted like pureed strawberries, so it was very light and refreshing. In the past, any strawberry flavoring has reminded us of a strawberry pie filling, which is thick and more artificial. This coulis was light, refreshing, and had very natural flavors. Even the bottom crust was pillowy and light, which went well with the cheesecake. It truly melted in our mouths with every bite.

Have a bite!

Then, you can also grab the Red, White, and Blue Cake Pop for $5.99. This is a red velvet cake pop with festive sprinkles.

The cake pop!

This cake pop made us feel like kids again! The chocolate flavoring was super light and moist, and reminded us of a Hostess cupcake without the icing. It was nice and chocolatey, but it wasn’t overly rich. The thin layer of chocolate held the cake pop together but still let the flavor of the cake shine. It was simple, but classic, so we think this could be a crowd pleaser for any age.

A look inside the cake pop!

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest news around Disney World during this season and beyond, so be sure to stay tuned to AllEars!
