NEWS: Tokyo DisneySea Announces Permanent Closure of Popular Ride

An iconic international Disney park ride is permanently closing later this year.

Tokyo Disney Resort recently announced that Tokyo DisneySea’s Aquatopia attraction will be closing for good in September, as the Oriental Land Company (OLC) seeks to reimagine the Port Discovery section of the park.

The OLC (which owns and operates Tokyo Disney Resort) announced that Aquatopia will permanently close on September 14th, 2026.

Before the ride’s official closure, the limited-time “Get Soaked” version of the ride will return, where riders can enjoy the unpredictable movements of an automated water vehicle. Before the permanent closure, the regular version of Aquatopia will be available from April 23rd through June 30th. After that, the “Get Soaked” version will return for the summer!

Aquatopia features a three-person watercraft that travels around the experimental pool, and this is no typical course. You’ll spin around and twirl off in unpredictable directions. Who knows where you’ll end up! This ride uses Disney’s trackless system, and it’s a pretty fun attraction!

In addition to this closure, Tokyo Disney Resort also announced that “Get Soaked” Harbor Splash is returning this year. Guests can look forward to getting drenched by torrents of water, and during “Splash Time,” an even more invigorating water spray will accompany “Carrying Happiness (Tokyo Disney Resort Version)”.

The “Get Soaked” experience will run at Tokyo Disney Resort through the summer, beginning on July 2nd and ending on September 14th. If you don’t have a trip planned, now might be the best time to get started!
