NEWS: Measles Exposure Reported at Disneyland Resort

According to the Orange County Register, public health officials warned that a possible measles exposure happened at the Los Angeles International Airport, Disneyland Resort, and other Southern Californian locations tied to an international traveler.

A passenger infected with the measles passed through the Los Agnglels International Airport on January 26th. People who were in Terminal B between 10:45 PM on January 26th and 1 AM on January 27th may have been exposed.

The traveler visited locations at Disneyland Resort on January 28th, including Goofy’s Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel from 10:30 Am to 1:30 PM and Disneyland Park and Disneyland California Adventure Park from 12:30 PM to closing.

This is the second confirmed case of measles in LA County this year. A statement from public health officials said, “There are no identified public exposure locations in Los Angeles County outside of a healthcare setting at this time. Affected healthcare facilities are directly notifying patients and staff who may have been exposed. Public Health is also identifying others who may have had contact with the case and verifying their measles vaccination status.”

Health officials said people exposed may develop symptoms between seven and 21 days after exposure and urged residents to confirm their vaccination status. Anyone who develops symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, or rash should stay home and contact a healthcare provider before seeking care, according to officials.
