Star Wars fans, don’t freak out, but Disney just dropped the teaser trailer for a brand-new show that has been flying under the radar.
Star Wars: Maul — Shadow Lord is set to release this year, and Disney has given us our very first look at it. Buckle up, Star Wars fans, it looks like we’re in for a treat!
On April 6th, 2026, get ready to step into a new story in a galaxy far, far away. Star Wars: Maul — Shadow Lord follows the sith lord, Darth Maul, after the events of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
The show is an animated series created by the same creators of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, with the same animation style as well. From the teaser, it looks like the story is going to follow Darth Maul, who is now in hiding after what took place in The Clone Wars season 7. Maul is on a mission to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a planet that is far out of the reach of the Empire.
The teaser is filled with awesome action sequences, tense moments, and dialogue hinting that the emperor and Maul are out for each other. True Star Wars fans may also recognize that the score has nods to “Duel of the Fates” in it — the epic music that plays in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
The new series will begin with a two-episode premiere on Disney+ on April 6th, followed by two episodes each week, building up to a finale on May 4th. We’re curious if this series will bridge the gap between his first appearance in The Clone Wars and Solo: A Star Wars Story (as well as Star Wars: Rebels) — which all fall in different time frames.
