One of Wilderness Lodge’s best perks is going away — but only temporarily.

One of the biggest perks of staying at a Disney World hotel is the built-in transportation that makes getting around the resort easy and stress-free. From buses and Skyliner routes to scenic boat rides, these options are often part of what makes a hotel stay at Disney World feel extra magical. But if you’re planning a stay at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge early next year, one of those beloved perks will be taking a short break — and it’s something you’ll want to know about before you arrive.
If you’re planning a stay at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge early next year, there’s an important transportation update you’ll want to keep in mind. Disney has confirmed that the boat dock at Wilderness Lodge will undergo routine maintenance beginning January 12, 2026, with work expected to continue through early April 2026.

During this maintenance period, the boat dock itself will be closed, and boat transportation will be temporarily suspended from January 12th through January 30th, 2026. This impacts visitors who typically rely on the scenic boat routes to Magic Kingdom and nearby resorts as part of their daily park routine.

Boat transportation is a popular perk of staying at Wilderness Lodge, offering a relaxing and efficient way to travel to Magic Kingdom without dealing with buses or security lines at the Transportation and Ticket Center. While the suspension is temporary, it’s still something you’ll want to factor into their plans — especially if Magic Kingdom is a major focus of your trip during these dates.

The good news is that Disney will continue to provide alternate transportation options during the closure. Bus transportation will remain available to Magic Kingdom and other destinations, ensuring you’ll still be able to get to where you need to go while work is underway. Disney has not indicated that hotel access or other amenities will be affected beyond the dock area itself.

Routine maintenance projects like this are common at Disney World and are part of keeping transportation systems safe and efficient for visitors year-round. While the dock closure may slightly change how you move around the hotel during your stay, it shouldn’t significantly impact the overall Wilderness Lodge experience — especially for those who plan ahead.

If you’re staying at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge between January and early April 2026, it’s a good idea to allow a little extra travel time and keep an eye on Disney’s transportation updates closer to your arrival. Knowing about this closure in advance can help you adjust expectations and avoid surprises once you’ve arrived and need to get around.
