NEWS: Important Parade Change Revealed for Magic Kingdom in January

Have you caught the new nighttime parade in Magic Kingdom that debuted this past summer? Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away brightens up Main Street, U.S.A. and travels throughout the park with fun music, cool characters, and literally so. many. lights.

If you’re planning on seeing it in January, you need to know these dates before staking your spot in front of the castle.

On January 6th, 7th, and 8th, there will only be one showing of Starlight at 7:45 PM. Usually, it runs at 7:45 PM and 10 PM every night in Magic Kingdom.

Now, besides there not being a 10 PM show, what does this mean for you? You’ll want to make sure you’re there early enough for the 7:45 show, since more people will be seeing the one showing. Spots on Main Street and by the castle tend to fill up fast, so this might be a great time to try the Frontierland or Liberty Square spots.

People might also plan on leaving after the 7:45 show versus 10, so you might not want to head out immediately after the show and deal with the crowds at transportation. The park will close at 9 PM on those nights, but on the 8th, if you’re staying at a Deluxe Resort, you can use your Extended Evening Hours until 11 PM.

Happily Ever After, the fireworks spectacular, will start at 9 PM, as well, and it’s a show you don’t want to miss. You’ll want to get in your spot pretty early for this one if you want to see the projections on the castle.

I’m in love with Disney World nighttime spectaculars, and I love sharing all of the best tips and tricks for them. For Disney Starlight, I really enjoyed watching from Liberty Square, right where it turns before going towards Frontierland. I got to see the front of the floats and the sides, and it’s usually less busy anywhere but Main Street.

For Happily Ever After, I prefer to go off more to the side instead of directly in the middle with the crowds of people, but I also enjoy being behind the castle near The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train where you can hear the music and see the fireworks, but you won’t be able to see the castle projections.
