NEW Look at Universal Theme Park Coming to Texas

It’s time! It’s finally time! We’ve been waiting (not so) patiently to hear more details about the upcoming Universal Kids Resort coming to Frisco, Texas, and now we’ve got TONS of information to share.

Universal has just shared with us concept art of all the different lands coming to this new theme park and hotel, as well as what we can expect to experience in each one. We know this will help a LOT of people plan their vacations and see if it’s something their kids would be interested in, so let’s dive right in!

This new theme park will open in 2026 in Frisco, Texas, but no official date has been announced at this time. There will be seven themed lands to explore, and when asked about the design of the park, Molly Murphy, President of Universal Creative, said, “We leaned into that childlike curiosity and invited play to be our guide. Every detail was designed through a child’s eyes, from signs at their height to colors that invite them in. The result is a park that celebrates the joy of being a kid — where imagination isn’t just encouraged, it’s embedded in every attraction, space, and experience.”

Universal Kids Resort Hotel

At the front of the theme park will be the Universal Kids Resort Hotel, which was all designed with families in mind.

Other hotel amenities will include a full-service bar, outdoor pool, fitness room, and a game room. Just looking at the concept art of the lobby, too, we have a feeling kids will be big fans of this new hotel!

But what lands lie beyond the hotel?

Isle of Curiosity

Isle of Curiosity will serve as the gateway to the rest of the lands. Here you’ll find Gabby’s Cat-Tastic Dance Party! with Gabby from “Gabby’s Dollhouse,” Cakey’s Cupcakes will be your one-stop shop for delicious cupcakes, and you’ll be able to grab a quick bite to eat, or sit down and relax at Universal Kids Resort Café. Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom

Our childhood dreams are coming true, because the first land to the right of the hotel on the park map is none other than Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini BottomAt the Jellyfish Fields Jamboree, families can board their own jellyfish and jump around with SpongeBob himself. On Barnacle Bus, you’ll be able to see Bikini Bottom’s sights and residents, and on Bobbing Barrels, families can use water cannons to blast each other as they spin around. The final ride in the land is Mrs. Puff’s Boating School, where you can take a spin on her course and see how well you are behind the wheel.

To dine in this land, you’ll be able to stop by Goofy Goober’s, which will serve up chicken sandwiches, salads, hot dogs, and sky-high sundaes. To shop, you’ll want to head to the sunken treasure chest, the Barg’N-Mart, where you can grab sunny day apparel, toys, plushes, and more. Guests will also get the chance to meet SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star, Sandy Cheeks, and even explore Mussel Beach for some rest!

Continuing further into the park, sticking to the right side, you’ll come across Illumination’s Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club. You’ll want to grab a water blaster and join in on the spirited water battle full of surprises, and at the Bello Bay Cruise, you’ll watch the hilarious antics of the Yellow Minions and their purple counterparts.

Jurassic World Adventure Camp

In the right back corner of the park, you’ll find Jurassic World Adventure Camp, which is great for adventurers. Over at Jurassic World: Cretaceous Coaster, the curious Ankylosaurus, Bumpy, has gone missing, so families will zoom through twists, turns, peaks, and valleys to help find her! Another family attraction is Mr. DNA’s Double Helix Spin, while smaller kiddos can also experience the Pteranodrop, which is a small drop ride that gives great views of the park from up high.

Dining in this land will be at Jurassic World Canteen, and to shop, you’ll head to Jurassic World Outfitters. Kids can also climb up the Jurassic World Lookout Towers and have fun at Paddock Play

As for meet and greets, you’ll be able to meet Puss in Boots, Mama Luna, Perrito, and other friends. This is also one of the lands where you’ll find sensory gardens (located all over the park) to help families take a pause and reset when needed.

DreamWorks’ Shrek’s Swamp

In the back left corner of the park will be DreamWorks’ Shrek’s Swamp, where Shrek & Fiona’s Happily Ogre After will take families through the story of how Shrek and Fiona met in a fun ride that Shrek built for their triplets!

DreamWorks’ TrollsFest

Sticking to the left side of the park, heading back towards the front, you’ll come upon DreamWorks’ TrollsFest. An indoor interactive experience, King Trollex Techno Dance Party, will be great to get energy out, and we know another (currently unnamed) Trolls-themed amphitheater stage show will also be in this land.

©Universal

On Rhonda’s TrollsFest Express, you’ll twist and turn through the festival grounds on an armadillo bus ride, and then you can jump to Hair in the Clouds to fly over TrollsFest.

©Universal

The main dining location here will be Trolls Eatz!, but if you’re looking for a sweet treat, BroZone Cones will offer ice cream from the coolest boy band around. If you want to change up your hairstyle to match the Trolls, parents and kids can head to Sparkle Shine Glitter Glow. Mr. Dinkles’ Market will offer other types of merchandise, and you won’t want to miss meeting Poppy, Branch, and the rest of the DreamWorks Trolls gang. Finally, there are two interactive play areas in this land — Poppy’s Playland and Trolls Critter Crawl.
