Everything That Will Be CLOSED at Disney’s BoardWalk by 2026

One Disney World Resort has been seeing some huge changes!

Disney’s Boardwalk

Disney’s BoardWalk and BoardWalk Inn have been under construction for a few years now, and during our visits, it seems like things are constantly changing. In recent years, multiple restaurants and offerings have closed, and it’s starting to feel rather empty over there!

After the pandemic, some big changes were made on the left side of the BoardWalk. Ample Hills Creamery shut down and eventually became BoardWalk Ice Cream, the BoardWalk Bakery was turned into the BoardWalk Deli, and then the ESPN Club was (very slowly) transformed into The Cake Bake Shop.

One of the old snack stands here was even transformed into the beloved Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs. It’s now one of our favorite places to stop and snag a fun snack!

But the right side of the BoardWalk? It’s HURTING right now. Jellyrolls — the dueling piano bar — closed earlier this year, and Big River Grille shut down at the beginning of 2024.

That leaves some massive gaps in the businesses on that end. Currently, what remains is Atlantic Dance Hall and the Screendoor General Store.

There’s also a closed snack stand on this side that used to be a funnel cake stand. We haven’t seen any updates to the small building since its closure.

And now, another closure is being added to the list. The Promenade Fine Art Gallery is shutting down on October 20th, leaving another empty business spot near the lobby of the BoardWalk.

So what is Disney going to do with all this space? There’s a decent amount of retail space available, as well as room for multiple dining locations. They could bring in outside businesses to fill these slots.

The BoardWalk Inn has also been under construction for a large part of the last few years, with updates in the lobby and revamped hotel rooms. The guest experience is improving here, but to draw in more people, they’ll likely need to fill those empty slots with new businesses. Otherwise, that whole side of the resort has an “abandoned” feel.

We’ll make sure to keep you updated as we learn more about the changes at the BoardWalk.
