Your Next Trip to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Will Look TOTALLY Different

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is one of the most iconic Disney World Resorts. From the moment you walk in, it feels like you’re transported to a different time as you take in the gorgeous atmosphere.

The Grand Floridian

The next time you’re walking into admire the resort or starting your Disney World vacation, you’re visit might look a little different.

BAM! Your new view of the Grand Floridian lobby is filled with walls! A lot of them.

So. Many. Walls.

If you were expecting that once-in-a-lifetime magical experience when entering the resort for your vacation, you might want to wait till renovations are finished because there might be walls in your family photos.

That’s a huge part of the lobby!

There is so much construction happening right now that there will be no gingerbread house for the holiday season! This has been a staple of Christmas time at Disney World for years, but we’ll have to head to other resorts to see other gingerbread displays.

Wondering why all of these walls are up? Disney is adding a lobby bar to the resort and working on refurbishments.

The lobby’s birdcage will inspire the bar and “will pay tribute to the resort’s Victorian roots with intricate woodwork, stained glass, and brass accents.”

Disney even said you might be able to see colorful birds in the stained glass and murals around the atrium.

They’re also working on general refurbishments while sticking to the original theme of the resort. The areas around the lobby, staircase, and front desk will feature botanical accents and inviting colors to continue the garden theme.

The lobby is also getting new carpet that will have “Victorian-inspired borders and scrollwork featuring hand-drawn florals inspired by turn-of-the-century botanical studies.” That sounds gorgeous!

If your next vacation is after the renovations, which we do not currently have an opening date for, the lobby should look just as beautiful but with new, clean details to brighten the space. Don’t worry, you shouldn’t feel like you’re entering a new resort, just an updated one.

We love that Disney is determined to keep the same themes of the resort but in a new way. They said that they will honor “a celebration of the golden age of travel and Florida’s lavish seaside hotels” throughout construction.
