Florida is almost summer all year round, with bright sunshine and gorgeous weather that makes you want to plan every vacation to the Sunshine State. What’s the cost of the beautiful weather? Storm season.

A tropical system may be heading towards Florida, and here’s what we know so far.
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has been tracking Tropical Storm Barry, which dissipated after making landfall in Mexico. They’re now forecasting that a tropical depression or storm could potentially start off the coast of Florida.
This could potentially spread across Central Florida. The National Hurricane Center gave it a 20% chance of forming into a bigger storm within the next seven days.

Whether or not a storm develops, the National Weather Service says to expect a high chance of rain around the Fourth of July and into the weekend.

Forecasters say, “Heavy rainfall will be the primary concern regardless of development.. Multiple rounds of showers and storms will be possible each day, increasing compounding concerns for flooding.”
If it develops into a storm, it could be called Tropical Storm Chantel, since it’s the third storm of the Atlantic hurricane season.

How can you make sure you’re staying safe? The biggest thing you can do is stay up to date with information from local weather authorities.

You should also be prepared for your Disney World visit to be altered. When it’s storming, many outdoor attractions close for safety concerns. Going in with a flexible plan can help ensure you still have an incredible vacation without being bogged down by the details.
Also, be sure to bring your rain gear. Ponchos, umbrellas, hats, and extra pairs of shoes will let the rain bother you a little less during your trip.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on this storm to monitor its progress, but please stay up to date with all the latest developments in the area before and during your Disney World vacation.
