We saw a rare parade today and are taking you with us.
This parade celebrated the Disney Dreamers Academy, a program that supports high school students from different backgrounds to be mentored at Disney World. They start this amazing program by walking before the Festival of Fantasy parade.
The Disney Dreamers Academy selects 100 applicants between the ages of 13 and 19 who have intellectual curiosity, compassion, courage, a positive outlook, a generous spirit, and optimism for the future. They then participate in a four-day mentorship program!
The Dreamers are mentored by Disney Cast Members who have blazed their own trails to success. They attend workshops to develop skills like networking and dressing for success, which will help these students enter the workforce in the future.
They are offered complimentary airfare, hotel accommodations, and theme park tickets for themselves and their guardians. They get to truly feel the magic at Disney and, more importantly, understand the very first Dreamer, Walt Disney himself.
The parade had Mickey in his marching band outfit and the rest of the gang!
The Dreamers held signs with their states and different characteristics of Dreamers.
This is a unique program that Disney hosts, and it is one of the many programs that help give back to the community. If you believe someone might qualify to be a dreamer, encourage them to apply here!
