Disney just wrapped up its biggest fan event of the year!

D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event took place in Anaheim, California, and was filled with LOADS of big announcements this year. We learned more about the parks, Disney Cruise Line, upcoming movies, and a plethora of other topics fans are invested in. But on Sunday, a big highlight was the Disney Legends ceremony!
To round out the weekend, the Disney Legends ceremony honored 14 people who have “left an indelible mark on the company’s historic legacy.” Ryan Seacrest hosted this year’s ceremony which was the largest in the past 37 years since the first Disney Legend was honored.

Also, for the first time in history, you can stream the Disney Legends ceremony starting at 5PM ET on Monday, August 12th. It’s available exclusively on Disney+.

Here’s the full list of people who were inducted as Disney Legends during this year’s ceremony:
- Colleen Atwood
- Angela Bassett
- Martha Blanding
- James L. Brooks
- James Cameron
- Jamie Lee Curtis
- Miley Cyrus
- Steve Ditko
- Harrison Ford
- Mark Henn
- Frank Oz
- Kelly Ripa
- Joe Rohde
- John Williams

“The Disney Legends Award is the highest honor our company bestows,” said Disney CEO Bob Iger. “It’s presented as a celebration of talent, a recognition of achievement, and, above all, a sincere expression of our deep gratitude. Disney Legends are bound by the special place they have earned in our history for their tremendous contributions in service of entertaining and delighting fans around the globe.”

For each of the Legends who were inducted, they received a special on-stage presentation of the award. Many also had video presentations with kind messages from friends and coworkers. The list of honorees this year included everyone from actors to Disney employees to iconic Imagineers to filmmakers.

Each Disney Legend then got to give an acceptance speech, and the highlights of the night included Miley Cyrus apologizing to Mickey Mouse for her behavior between the years of 2013-2016.

These ceremonies are always an incredible reminder of the talent that Disney has on staff and the amazing things that these people have accomplished for the company. We’re grateful to this year’s Disney Legends (and the Disney Legends of the past!) for all that they’ve done to keep us entertained, whether it be through film, TV, or the parks.
