A multimillion-dollar Disney project will change one of the first experiences you have at a Disney park soon.

Disneyland is no stranger to change. We’ve seen so many changes to rides, restaurants, and whole lands lately that sometimes it’s hard to keep up. However, a new entrance system for Disneyland is on its way, and we’ve already laid eyes on what it will look like when it’s live!
Disneyland has started testing a new automated entry gate system recently. This new automated entry is part of the $4.8 million entrance overhaul coming to the Disneyland theme parks, hotels, monorail, and Downtown Disney later this year.

Disneyland has begun testing this new entry system with its first installation of the automated entry turnstile at Disney California Adventure.

Testing for this new system is meant to be installed for a short time with the intent to be removed to make way for the construction and installation of the entire system later.

Disneyland plans to tackle the installation of the overhauled turnstiles one at a time until all 62 new automated entry gates at both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Work is expected to begin later this year and be completed in phases to limit the impact of construction on park visitors.

Disneyland’s new automated gate design will feature clear doors that will open once visitors scan their theme park ticket, annual pass, or MagicBand. After completing the scan at the turnstile, a photo of the visitor will be taken before they enter. Additionally, the updated entry gates are expected to make entry for strollers and wheelchairs more easily accessible. Cast Members will still be standing by to assist with ticket validation and help with any issues that may arise.

This multimillion-dollar Disneyland project is expected to be completed in 2025, but we’ll be keeping a close watch over the testing and installation of the new turnstiles as they start construction later this year. Stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest Disney news, updates, and more!
