Listen, at Disney World, transportation is not always sunshine and rainbows.

The Skyliner is a popular mode of transportation at Walt Disney World, and it offers scenic views and a convenient way to zip between the parks and resorts, but like any form of transport, there are times when it might not be the ideal choice. Let’s talk about a couple of instances when the Skyliner had us second-guessing our decision.
When It’s Stormy Weather
Let’s set the scene for you: You’re all set for a scenic ride from your hotel to the parks, but then the clouds roll in and rain starts pouring. Suddenly, your cozy gondola feels more like a misty rainforest.

While the gondolas are generally well-sealed, heavy rain can lead to misting, and a surprise downpour, like in our fictional story, can definitely dampen your Skyliner experience. More importantly, the Skyliner will close in the event of heavy winds or lightning, so you could find yourself walking from the Skyliner station to a bus stop in the rain. Sometimes it may be best to just change your Skyliner plans when the skies start darkening!
During Peak Hours
Ah, the joys of peak park hours! The Skyliner is quite popular, so expect to see long queues and packed gondolas at peak hours like evenings and park closing times.

Those conditions definitely make what should be a leisurely journey feel more like rush hour on the highway. It’s not exactly the magical ride we had in mind.
During the Peak of Summer Heat
We’re all for soaking up that Florida sunshine, but when the mercury rises, so does the temperature inside those gondolas.

The Skyliner offers no air conditioning onboard, and while the breeze is refreshing when moving, it can become quite toasty inside a stopped gondola, especially during the scorching summer months.
If You’re Prone to Motion Sickness
For most folks, the Skyliner ride is smooth sailing. But if you’re one of those unlucky souls who gets queasy at the slightest motion, beware!

Slowdowns or wind can cause swaying, which might trigger motion sickness for those susceptible.
If You’re Afraid of Heights
Soaring through the sky at heights of up to 60 feet sounds thrilling, right? Well, not if you’re terrified of heights!

For some, those panoramic views can be a dream come true, but for others, it’s like a one-way ticket to anxiety-ville.
When There’s a Maintenance Delay
Just like any transportation system, the Skyliner will occasionally experience maintenance delays.

If you find yourself relying on the Skyliner for transportation, make sure to stay updated on any maintenance issues that may arise, as you may need to make alternative transport arrangements.
