The BEST Places To Escape (And EAT!) When It’s Raining in Disney World

Disney World. Technically, it’s in Central Florida. However, Central Florida might as well be called “‘Random Rain Storm That You Definitely Aren’t Expecting Because The Sky Was Blue 5 Seconds Ago Capital of the World.”

Stormy clouds in Magic Kingdom

Yeahhhh. Disney World is notorious for those. You can count on it raining at least once or twice throughout your Disney World vacation — no matter the time of year. That’s why we always tell our readers to come prepared with rain gear so that the torrential downpours don’t affect their carefully-constructed plans. Today, though, we’re going to take things just a step further and share with you places in the parks that you can visit to escape the rain while ALSO grabbing a bite to eat.

Yep, today we’re going to give you one restaurant option from each park that is great to escape the rain based on two sets of criteria. The first: The restaurant must be BIG. There needs to be enough room to accommodate the rush of people who are heading in for the same reasons you are — to escape the monsoon. The second: It must NOT require a reservation. Because rain doesn’t make reservations. Okay? Okay. Let’s go!

Magic Kingdom: Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe

This quick service eatery is located in Tomorrowland and offers a wide variety of classic American dishes, from cheeseburgers to chicken tenders.

This restaurant provides a LOT of space that can handle a rapid influx of visitors.

The food isn’t bad, but it’s also not fabulous. However, that’s the situation with many Magic Kingdom restaurants, so you aren’t sacrificing anything.

EPCOT — Connections Cafe and Eatery

Connections is a solid option even when it’s not raining. It’s located toward the front of EPCOT, right across from Creations Shop.

Some options!

Here, you can grab Starbucks or indulge in a pretty impressive variety of cuisine, from burgers to bao buns!

There are plenty of tables as well as areas to simply stand around and wait out the bad weather.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom — Satu’li Canteen

Located in Pandora, Satu’li Canteen is a quick service eatery that provides both indoor and covered outdoor seating areas.

The food here is actually REALLY good. Like, not just theme park good. It’s fresh, there are actual nutritious and filling options, and it’s something different from the usual cheeseburger and hotdog.

There is plenty of space here as well, plus you can grab a drink from Pongu Pongu which is right next door to take over to enjoy with your meal!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios — ABC Commissary

This is another restaurant where the food isn’t absolutely phenomenal but the amount of space and ease with which you can find a spot to eat makes up for it.

ABC Commissary in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

This is one of the restaurants that’s a bit stricter with the amount of people that the Cast Members allow into the building, though. They sometimes stand outside and check to make sure your mobile order is complete before allowing you inside.

So, to err on the side of caution, maybe place a mobile order when you start seeing big angry clouds.
