We’ve made it to summer, which means that many of you are either vacationing at Disney World, you just got back, or you’re about to head that way soon!

It also means that many of you are starting to book your fall and winter Disney World vacations as tickets for both Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, Jollywood Nights, and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party have officially gone on sale at this point. Booking these vacations also means booking your hotel stays, which can be stressful at times when you’re trying to coordinate with another group, attend the parks on a certain date for a holiday party, or find the room of your dreams when everyone else is trying to find the room of THEIR dreams.
That’s where we come in! We’re here to give you all the best tips and tricks when it comes to booking your fall and winter 2023 Disney World vacation — all based on common mistakes that we and our readers have made in the past. Are ya ready? Let’s go!
Mistake #1 — Booking Before You Buy Your Holiday Party Tickets
Initially, we were going to say that the big mistake was booking your hotel stay too far away from your holiday party dates. To eliminate this issue entirely, it’s best if you purchase your holiday party tickets FIRST, and then choose park ticket dates and rooms that are available for the date you have a holiday party ticket for.

This might sound like a no-brainer, but we’ve all been scrambling to find holiday party tickets to match our park ticket dates and hotel stay. It’s easier to find a hotel room than it is to find party tickets for your desired date, as the holiday party tickets will typically sell out first. (However, there are usually a few that become available the day-of or in the few days leading up to the desired date. Speak to Guest Relations in the parks to try your luck.)
Mistake #2 — Booking A Hotel That’s Too Far Away In Location From Your Holiday Party
Typically, a lot of party guests will attend the parks in the morning and then go back to the room and change before re-entering the park for the party. This gives everyone an opportunity to rest up before a long night in the parks as well as change into themed outfits or costumes.

We recommend making sure that you book a stay at a hotel that’s close in location to the party you’re attending, whether it be at Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios. This just ensures that you won’t be spending time in the crowded bus, Skyliner, or boat launch lines when you could be in the parks.
Mistake #3 — Booking Your Hotel Stay Too Late
This one is probably the most common mistake. If you were to check the website right now, you’d see that there are plenty of hotel room options available for the fall and winter seasons. This usually inspires many visitors to wait a bit longer to book.

Book as soon as you can! Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas are the busiest times of the year, and those hotel rooms could be gone before you know it. If you’re trying to hold out for a better deal, we recommend going ahead and booking what’s available now and then trying to upgrade later on. It’s better that you have a place to stay now than to be scrambling later on.

These hotel booking mistakes are super common, but they are totally avoidable. Book early, book close to the party you’re hoping to attend, and book those holiday tickets FIRST. This will hopefully make the whole booking process much smoother.
