'Abbott Elementary' and 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' Took Home Wins for Disney at the Golden Globes

In 2022, the entertainment industry was really on the path to recovery after the pandemic, and that was reflected in the number of movies that came out!

From Marvel to Pixar to Disney and more, there were SO many new films to watch. And now, it’s time to see which of those movies went above and beyond — the results are in for the Golden Globes!

The 80th Golden Globes ceremony took place on Tuesday, January 10th, and CNN has compiled a list of everyone who won. On the list, there are a few Disney shows and movies that took home awards!

For starters, the ABC series Abbott Elementary scored a few different awards. Quinta Brunson won the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy, and Tyler James Williams won Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical-Comedy or Drama Television Series. The show itself won Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy overall.

As far as movies go, Disney was definitely lacking in the awards department. However, there was one shining star that took home a well-deserved title. Angela Bassett’s performance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever won her the award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture.

Non-Disney movies and shows that did well include House of the Dragon, which won Best Television Series Drama, and The White Lotus, which took home two awards. The Banshees of Inisherin, The Fabelmans, and Everything Everywhere All at Once also scored in multiple categories each.

We’ll be on the lookout for more awards results in the coming months — we’ll see which films and shows rank supreme from 2022, and even which media is a must-see in 2023! We can’t wait for more trips to the theater this year.
