Netflix Reveals Release Date and First Look at 'Knives Out' Sequel

Netflix has a lot of new projects in the works!

Although Netflix recently reported a loss of almost a million subscribers, they’re still debuting new content, like the upcoming Wednesday series (based on Wednesday Addams!), Pinocchio (directed by Guillermo del Toro), and more. Now they’ve given us a first look at the sequel to the popular 2019 film, Knives Out!

In case you missed it, Knives Out was a surprise hit back in 2019, weaving a story of mystery led by master detective Benoit Blanc, played by Daniel Craig. The film featured an ensemble cast and it was written and directed by Rian Johnson.

In 2021, Netflix purchased the rights to Knives Out sequels for over $450 million, according to Variety, and the first sequel, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, will premiere on Netflix on December 23rd. Like its predecessor, the sequel was written and directed by Rian Johnson, with Daniel Craig reprising his role of Benoit Blanc.

As reported by Variety, Glass Onion is set on the island of Spetses, Greece, and it will feature a new story and an ensemble cast including Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Leslie Odom Jr., Kathryn Hahn, Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson, Dave Bautista and Ethan Hawke, and Netflix tweeted these images for a first look at the film!

Glass Onion will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, and it will release in select theaters on the same date it debuts on Netflix (December 23rd). Until then, there is plenty to watch on Netflix — so stay tuned to AllEars for more Netflix and streaming news!
