From Disney World and Universal Orlando to Legoland, there are themes and experiences unique to each individual park. But one Florida theme park now stands out in a special way after receiving an important designation — let’s check it out!

Legoland Florida has just become the first theme park resort to receive a Certified Autism Center (CAC) designation. (Blooloop) This certification extends to all of Legoland Resort, including Legoland Theme Park, Legoland’s Water Park, and the brand new Peppa Pig Theme Park as well, which features accessible ride vehicles and rides.

According to Blooloop, the certification is awarded by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) to businesses and organizations that “complete staff training and offer amenities and accommodation for visitors with cognitive differences.”

Legoland Florida Resort provides trained staff who can help guests with autism. There are also sensory guides for each attraction. Not only that, but Legoland Florida Resort also has low-sensory areas for guests who need a break.

Kelly Hornick, Head of Marketing and Communications for Legoland Florida, stated that she was thankful to IBCCES for “helping us be more welcoming and more inclusive to more families, including those with sensory needs.”

IBCCES’ board chairman, Myron Pincomb, said that they are thrilled to “partner with Legoland Florida Resort to help them enhance the guest experience in this unique setting that provides a comprehensive experience for families to stay and play together.”

UPDATE: In early February of 2023, The Orlando Sentinel shared that as of next month (meaning March of 2023), ALL Legoland resorts in North America will be Certified Autism Centers. The Legoland in Carlsbad, California earned the designation this past year, and Legoland in Goshen, New York has earned it too (it’ll reopen for the season in March of 2023).
