After theaters were quiet for a long time, Marvel and Disney have brought several of their new movies back to theaters.
Disney and Marvel have both been releasing films that have garnered a lot of attention. While Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings might be the latest debut, it has set the stage for the new theatrical release schedule for other films already with its success.
The Hollywood Reporter has shared that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has claimed the top box office spot for the second weekend in a row, earning $35.8 million domestically. That brings the total domestic revenue to $145.6, alongside its global revenue of $257.6 million to date.
Even though Black Widow may have had a higher gross for its three-day debut, Shang-Chi has been able to earn more revenue in theaters since. Black Widow only made $25.8 million its second weekend, which could be due to its dual release in theaters and on Disney+. Shang-Chi is currently only out in theaters for a total of 45 days before also being introduced to the streaming service platform.
Shang-Chi has also brought in $5.3 million to IMAX theaters this past weekend, driving the revenue up to $21 million.
