NEWS: Disney and Sony Come To Agreement To Bring Spider-Man to Streaming Platforms

As Disney begins to incorporate the Marvel Universe into their streaming platforms and parks, there’s one character that has always been treated a little differently than the others.

If you’ve ever undertaken a Marvel movie marathon on Disney+, you’ve probably noticed that Spider-Man films, including Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home, were missing. That’s because Sony owns the rights to the Spider-Man character and movies. But, we’ve got some news for all you web-slinging fans!

The Walt Disney Company and Sony Pictures Entertainment have reached an agreement on a multi-year content licensing contract. This means that Disney will now be able to add movies and shows owned by Sony to their streaming libraries on Disney+ and Hulu.

The new agreement covers a wide variety of titles, including the library of Spider-Man movies, “Jumanji,” and “Hotel Transylvania” and will also expand into theatrical releases from 2022-2026.

This builds upon the agreement that was previously arranged between the two companies to keep Spider-Man in the Marvel Universe and will also open up the possibility for more titles to be added to Hulu beginning this June.
