Recently, President Biden directed states to make all adults eligible for the vaccine by May, and both Florida and California sped up their distribution timelines. And while a standardized system to provide proof of vaccination is in the works, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has already spoken out about this new initiative.
According to U.S. News, DeSantis will announce an executive order forbidding local governments and businesses to require “vaccine passports.”

The “vaccine passport” is a standard set of credentials to prove inoculation — it would be available digitally and in paper form. According to the Washington Post, the Biden administration specified that they do not want the system to be “the perception of a government mandate to be vaccinated.” Rather, it could be adopted by various businesses to encourage a “safe return to social, commercial, and leisure activities.”

However, DeSantis stated that requiring proof of vaccination would be “an unprecedented expansion” of public and private power. If put into place, his executive order would ban local businesses from requiring the passport.

I honestly don’t mind. As soon as you get the shot they are scanning the vial & linking that lot number to your name. I’m sure that is stored somewhere in case 10 years down the road we all grow an extra ear.Plus you leave a digital fingerprint any time you use your phone, computer etc.
As far as Covid my son spent 5 days in the hospital & came home on oxygen. So I really hope people get the vaccine & I will feel a little safer knowing that the people around me have been vaccinated
I’m glad to see the governor make this statement. Not everyone can get the vaccine, so they can still be included in family vacations to Florida
On a regular basis I receive email from my health care facility that is not intended for me.Not thrilled at the prospect of a national database.
There are already a bunch of national databases.
