It’s been a big month for Disneyland Resort!

Not only has the ticketed event called A Touch of Disney kicked off at Disney California Adventure, but we officially have a reopening date for the theme parks. Now, the state of California has released updated reopening guidelines for the upcoming theme park reopenings.
Some of the guidelines are similar to what we’ve seen in Disney World, but there are some rules that are exclusive to Disneyland. The guidelines explain that all queues must be outdoors and indoor rides must be limited to no more than 15 minutes in length.

Additionally, there should be plexiglass added to any queues that have switchbacks to keep guests physically distanced by at least six feet. Loading patterns for rides may need to be altered (such as skipping every other row) to keep guests at least six feet apart. Face coverings must also be available for guests if they lose them on a ride or attraction.

Regarding employees and performers, the employers must allow for a system that gives employees the option to take a COVID-19 test on weekly basis. If it is not feasible for performers to wear a mask, they are allowed to be unmasked for the duration of their performance. Unmasked performers must stay six feet away from other guests or employees, and they must get tested twice a week if they are in close contact with another performer during their performance.

When it comes to purchasing tickets, only California residents are currently allowed to visit Disneyland when it reopens. At the time guests make a park reservation or buy tickets, they must provide information that their group will not exceed 3 households, and all of the visitors in their group must be from California.

Eating and drinking in California theme parks will be similar to Disney World. Guests can only eat and drink in designated dining areas, and guests are not allowed to eat or drink while in line for an attraction. There must be additional designated and shaded areas for guests to eat near concession areas.

Although we’ve seen rides being tested, the Disneyland theme parks don’t open for about a month. We’ll continue to keep you updated on the latest regarding Disneyland’s reopening, so stay tuned.
