The WEIRDEST Disney Souvenirs Fans Have ACTUALLY Brought Through TSA at the Orlando Airport

If there’s one universal truth about Disney trips, it’s this: the magic does not stop when you leave the parks. It simply follows you straight to the airport.

Orlando International Airport security

Between snacks you refuse to part with, fragile collectibles, and items that absolutely did not feel questionable when you bought them, getting home can sometimes feel like the final boss of your vacation. With that in mind, we decided to ask you over on Facebook about your experience bringing certain souvenirs through TSA at the airport, and you definitely delivered! Let’s get into a few of the top responses that had us nodding along and laughing nervously.

We reached out to our followers on Facebook and Instagram to ask: “What is the weirdest/hardest Disney souvenir or item you had to bring through TSA at the airport?” We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments!

Now, let’s go over some of your top responses!

“A Mickey wine stopper….”

Melissa kicked things off with a situation that escalated quickly. She shared,

“A Mickey wine stopper….the bottom end is pointed, and evidently it looked like a weapon. The older TSA agent had to tell the younger one that this is a normal souvenir that you need to pass by!!!”

Wine Bottle Stoppers

Honestly, nothing says welcome back to reality like having to explain that yes, this vaguely pointy object is Mickey Mouse themed and no, you are not trying to cause chaos at 35,000 feet.

Galaxy’s Edge strikes again

Jennifer M. has been flagged not once, but twice. She shared,

“My family has been flagged twice. Once for the soda bottle from Galaxy’s Edge (I guess they thought it was a grenade). The other time for a Star Wars kinetic sand toy. It’s that portable play sand that is super dense. I think they thought it was c4.”

Coke Bottle

This is the risk you take when Disney designs souvenirs that look aggressively sci-fi. Completely understandable confusion, but also a reminder that Galaxy’s Edge props really commit to the bit.

Cake Bake Shop problems

Jackie’s answer may not have involved alarms, but it did involve vibes. She shared,

“Idk that it’s weird or difficult…. But I always feel extra bringing multiple pieces of Cake Bake cake through TSA 😂”

Gwendolyn’s Famous Earl’s Court Chocolate Cake

There is something deeply humbling about carefully removing slices of cake from your bag while strangers watch you. No shame, though. That cake is worth protecting at all costs.

The EPCOT cookie jar stress test

Dari’s experience was less about TSA and more about pure anxiety. She shared,

“The “hardest” was the Epcot cookie jar! I was carrying it around like it was a baby, terrified it wasn’t going to make it home! But we did it and it looks beautiful in the decor! 😍”

If you have never clutched a fragile Disney souvenir like your life depended on it, have you even gone on a Disney vacation?

When sand becomes suspicious

Samuel shared a very relatable oversight. He said,

“I forgot that I had a ziplock bag of sand from Castaway Cay in my carry on. It got flagged and they had to test it. But they gave it back 🤷”

Castaway Cay

Out of context, a bag of sand is always going to raise questions. In context, it is a perfectly reasonable Disney keepsake that you definitely forgot was there.

Germany Pavilion, but make it functional

Jennifer T. kept it simple and iconic, sharing,

“I brought home a cuckoo clock from EPCOT/Germany.”

Cuckoo Clock

That feels like one of those souvenirs you buy confidently and then slowly realize you now have to transport across multiple forms of travel without incident.

Popcorn buckets

Sarah summed up a very specific Disney visual with,

“2 figment popcorn buckets. Def some weird looks”

The new Figment popcorn bucket!

Two Figment popcorn buckets are not excessive, but it does feel like the kind of thing that makes TSA silently reevaluate everything.

The long-haul success story

Tina shared a truly impressive feat of packing patience. She said,

“Hardest item was 32yrs ago when bringing home a china Mickey, it had been beautifully wrapped by the CM and I then swaddled it in clothing in the middle of my case. One 9hr flight to the UK, trips through US and UK baggage handling then a 3 hour car drive and it has been sitting on my shelves ever since 😊”

Glass Mickey

It sounds like that Mickey has been through more than most of us.

Oversized dinosaur era

Terri brought us back in time with this gem. She shared,

“Back in the day Dinosaur had a gift shop and they had Huge foam rubber dinosaurs that literally were as big aa my 4 yr old kid. They each took up an entire overhead compartment. We bought all three on three different trips.”

That’s commitment. Honestly, we’ve got no notes.

Boot storage for the win

Finally, Diana shared a masterclass in creative packing. She said,

“The hardest was trying to get my delicate 30th anniversary champagne flutes from Disneyland Paris home in one piece.. I wrapped them carefully and stuffed them down inside my boots.. miraculously they made it!!!”

How pretty!

Honestly, that’s just pure innovation. Love it.

  1. I would think the Galaxy’s Edge Coke bottles are a huge issue. Not only do they look like weapons, but they contain more than 4 ounces of liquid, and that has been a no-no on carry-ons for a while.
