Get ready to experience Star Wars at Disneyland in a way we’ve never experienced before!

True to Walt’s promise, Disneyland is always changing — adapting and evolving to meet the demands of the modern-day guest. Well, it appears the company has heard the millions of cries across the galaxy, as it’s about to make some MASSIVE changes over at Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land this April!
In January, Disney revealed that beginning April 29th, 2026, Galaxy’s Edge is getting a timeline retheme to include more Star Wars eras! This retheme will expand the land’s offerings to include a heightened emphasis on other generations of Star Wars, rather than just zeroing in on the Age of the Resistance. Let’s get into what you can expect to see (and hear) once you visit with these changes in effect!
Character Changes
Starting April 29th, Disney has teased that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will usher in a “new point in the Star Wars saga like never before,” with characters from Star Wars films and television across the decades appearing at the land. Expect to see characters and storylines from A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, The Mandalorian, and Ahsoka — in addition to what’s already offered at Galaxy’s Edge.

Yes, that means Darth Vader will be a permanent resident of Galaxy’s Edge! He’ll be joined by Imperial Stormtroopers as they hunt down the remaining Jedi and look to destroy the rebellion.

Vader will be taking the space formerly occupied by Kylo Ren, who is staying in Disneyland but moving to the Disney Visa meet-and-greet in Tomorrowland.

Other iconic characters like Princess Leia Organa, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Chewbacca will also be Batuu locals with this change. So far, we know that you can spot newcomers Leia and Han (along with Chewie) near the Millennium Falcon, and Luke roaming the outpost,

Ahsoka Tano, the Mandalorian, and Grogu are staying in Batuu and can be found near the marketplace.

R2-D2 always draws a crowd in Galaxy’s Edge and will continue to do so near Droid Depot and the garage.

Rey is also sticking around and will be found around the Resistance Camp.

Of course, more characters may pop up from time to time, but it’s cool to know that these fan-favorites will be easily accessible to Star Wars fanatics of all ages!
Music Changes
FINALLY! We’re happy to report that John Williams’ beloved Star Wars scores — such as “Main Title” and “Force Theme” — will play when you enter the land!

As you wander around Batuu, you’ll also hear motifs from other classic tracks, including “Han Solo and the Princess,” “The Desert and the Robot Auction,” “The Emperor,” and more.

Over at Oga’s Cantina, the famous “Cantina Band” song will finally be featured in the lounge.

We can’t wait to rock out to this classic!
Shopping Changes
While new food offerings weren’t teased, we did learn about a change coming to the First Order Cargo shop. This little store will transform into Black Spire Surplus, a military salvage operation with artifacts from across the history of the galaxy.

Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities is also getting a slight change and will display a different array of one-of-a-kind items from its past.

The Droid Depot will feature an earlier generation of the Mubo family operating the depot. Here, you can find prototypes of the BB-style droids, as well as plenty of droid fun that you can eventually bring home with you!

Disney also teased that you might even see Luke Skywalker meeting with Savi in his search for information on lightsabers and the Force at Savi’s Workshop!

The projection show “Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga” will still be offered, as will “Fire of the Rising Moons” on select nights. A brand-new comic will also be released on April 22nd, titled Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge — Echoes of the Empire. This book will help explain the timeline retheme and create a narrative through-line.

As of this writing, all of these changes are ONLY slated for Disneyland’s version of Galaxy’s Edge currently, so Disney’s Hollywood Studios‘ version will remain the same for the time being.
