If there’s one thing Disney fans love just as much as planning a trip, it’s talking honestly about where they stayed once it’s over. Especially when the price tag is high, and expectations are even higher.
Copper Creek Villas
Recently, one of our readers shared a detailed review of their stay at Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and it’s getting a lot of attention. With nightly rates that can climb close to $1,900 depending on the season, room type, and availability, many fans expect a certain level of space, comfort, and service. According to this review, that wasn’t exactly the experience.
Our reader debg33 rated Copper Creek Villas & Cabins a 5 out of 10 stars and didn’t hold back when explaining why. They wrote,
“I traveled with my sister and family who are DVC members for an 8-day vacation. They wanted to try out a new resort and were excited they were able to book here since we were spending most of the trip at the resort. We were a group of 5 adults, with another adult joining us last minute for 3 nights. We had a 2-bedroom villa. It was small.”
That last line really sets the tone. A two-bedroom villa is usually seen as a spacious option, especially for a longer stay with adults. In this case, the size felt limiting almost immediately.

The kitchen setup was one of the first pain points. debg33 explained,
“The galley style kitchen was doable; however, it was the only way a kitchen could be put into the villa. It was hard for 2 people to prepare anything whether it be a meal or putting together a cooler bag and snack bag to take to the pool.”
For a group spending most of their trip at the resort, that kind of tight space can add up fast. Quick breakfasts, pool snacks, or even basic food prep became a challenge instead of a convenience.
Sleeping arrangements also created issues. They shared,
“When using the Murphy bed, there was not much room to walk by between the dresser and bed,”
Pull out bed
That lack of clearance made the room feel even smaller once everything was set up for the night. One of the most surprising complaints involved something guests usually take for granted.
“During the entire stay, I never had a hot (or warm) shower, regardless of the time of day.”
For a Disney Deluxe Villa at this price point, that’s a tough pill to swallow. Service concerns came up as well, especially when it came to luggage. debg33 wrote,
“Luggage service was almost non-existent. We filled a luggage cart upon arriving and the one person at valet filled out a slip for us. It used to be bell services were outside with valet to help with bag, loading the cart for you. There was one bell service member at times.”

They went on to add, “It’s obvious the Disney experience has changed over the many years. They want your money, but service in many areas is lacking, or almost non-existent.” That sentiment reflects a growing conversation among longtime Disney fans who feel service levels don’t always match rising prices.
Dining and recreation were a mixed bag. They noted,
“The food was ok. I thought Roaring Fork was better than Geyser Bar and Grill.”
Pool time also didn’t quite live up to expectations.
“The main pool is very small. We used the Boulder Ridge pool for the entire stay.”
In the end, debg33 summed up their experience clearly.
Copper Creek
“Sadly, this was a one and done. Beautifully themed resort but also very buggy due to the water, trees and shrubs.”
They did acknowledge some positives. Under Pros, they listed,
“Theming, location, cabanas at Boulder Ridge pool (first come since they is no charge but only 6 of them).”
For fans of Wilderness Lodge, the immersive theming and peaceful setting remain major draws.
The Cons, however, were hard to ignore:
“Small villas, inconvenient layout of resort (elevators are very far from most rooms), lack of adequate staff, main pool very small, no hot water in showers regardless of time of day.”
Copper Creek Springs Pool
Copper Creek Villas & Cabins are often seen as a dream stay for Disney fans, especially those using DVC points. This review is a reminder that even highly themed, premium resorts don’t work for everyone, and expectations can vary wildly depending on group size, travel style, and past experiences.
