Is Disney World Crowded on Thanksgiving? We Found Out

Happy Thanksgiving Day from Disney World!

Crowds around Cinderella Castle on Thanksgiving Day

Disney World has plenty of crowds during normal park days, but we’ve always warned people of the dangers of holiday travel at the parks. As things change throughout Disney World, we decided to check if our holiday knowledge is still accurate. That’s why we’re in Magic Kingdom to check out the Thanksgiving Day crowds!

It’s no secret that people love Disney World, especially during the holidays! Traditionally, the crowds turn up on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year’s, but we’re here to see if that’s still true. Lots of people turned out early this morning to get into the park when it opened!

Lined up at the entrance!

We started things off on Main Street U.S.A., and things were looking, well, pretty normal. Thanksgiving Day traditionally is not nearly as busy as Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve tend to be, but honestly, we were expecting more people packing the park than what we saw.

But what were the ride lines looking like? Honestly, again, like a pretty normal day. In Magic Kingdom, TRON Lightcycle/Run held the spot for the highest wait time.

In EPCOT, Test Tracktook the top spot with a 90-minute wait time.

Hollywood Studios was pretty busy with Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance showing the highest wait time. (Gotta defend the galaxy, right?)

Avatar: Flight of Passage was the most popular attraction in Animal Kingdom (which is typical for this park).

There was one exception — the line for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at 10AM was looking crazy long. We think the Wait Time of 55 minutes may have been a tad inaccurate (it looked like the Lightning Lane might have been backed up).

The line for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train was backing up early!

Now we do want to note that every Lightning Lane Single Pass (that’s the rides you pay individually for a return time, in other words, the most popular rides in Disney World) is sold out for Thanksgiving Day. And the Lightning Lane Multi Pass is sold out for EPCOT! So those crowds are going to be showing up! Maybe they are coming after their Thanksgiving dinner.

Anytime you stop by the parks, we definitely recommend making plans for crowds just in case! Using tools like the My Disney Experience App can help you skip long lines, order your food ahead of time, and check out wait times without running across the parks.

Sure, the holidays can be crazy, but that doesn’t make them any less magical! Happy Thanksgiving. We hope that the turkey isn’t too dry! Be sure to keep following AllEars for more Disney news and more.
