Why I’m Dreading Going to Disneyland in 2026

I’m worried that 2026 could be a tough year for Disneyland.

Disney California Adventure

Many changes are coming to the Disneyland Resort — and most of them are good! Disneyland is in the midst of a massive expansion project, and we’ve already seen some real, tangible progress. However, while the vibes are good, some concerns regarding 2026 still linger.

Once the expansion plans are completed, the resort — especially Disney California Adventure — should benefit greatly. However, in the meantime, construction will likely obstruct a normal park visit — both practically and aesthetically.

Right now, California Adventure is in the thick of its Avengers Campus expansion, which will double the size of the land while adding two new E-ticket attractions to the park. The first attraction, Avengers Infinity Defense, will feature “technology that allows the Avengers to jump between worlds has gone missing, and King Thanos is using it to wreak havoc everywhere.” The second is called Stark Flight Lab, which will whirl you around in a simulated flight via claw-like tech not too dissimilar to The Forbidden Journey at the Universal parks.

This construction has already cut off the pathway between Avengers Campus and Cars Land.

Additionally, California Adventure is constructing a new Coco boat ride near the Incredicoaster (but it remains to be seen how much construction will affect the flow of traffic) and the Hollywood Backlot area (including Monsters, Inc. Mike and Sulley to the Rescue!) will be transformed into a new Avatar Land featuring an exciting boat ride adventure. Both projects are expected to begin in 2026.

And there’s the Disneyland Esplanade, which is also expected to get a brand-new makeover as part of a transportation hub transformation fairly soon.

At the end of the day, it’s worth noting that all of these projects could be disruptive and an eyesore in 2026, and none are expected to be completed until 2027 at the very earliest.

And there’s one simple fact keeping guests away in 2026: the prices keep increasing.

I’ll keep going to Disneyland, but the constant Fall price increases that arrive like clockwork don’t exactly give anyone the warm fuzzies.
