Disney World Quietly Extends Port Orleans Hotel Refurbishment By OVER a Year

It seemed like we hadn’t gotten much construction news lately, with all the holiday stuff going on at Disney World. So, this new construction announcement from Disney really came out of nowhere!

Disney just announced a HUGE extension being added to the refurbishment timeline at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort. Let’s take a look at all the details.

When looking at the Disney World website, it looks like they’ve updated the room refurbishment timeline at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort to go through Summer 2027. More specifically, August 2027, at the earliest. Keep in mind, this refurb started in May 2025.

Disney has been working on a refurbishment of guest rooms in the Magnolia Bend section of the resort. Originally, the refurbishment was scheduled to be completed in February 2026 — so this new extension is a MASSIVE one, adding over another year on the timeline. However, Disney now mentions the work will happen “throughout different parts of the Resort hotel.”

Also, the most recent notice from Disney didn’t list any specific area of the resort, meaning there’s a chance this could be applied to even more of the hotel rooms. Why do we say that? Well, the notice before this new one stated that the refurbishment would be done to the Magnolia Bend section. However, now it doesn’t state that, or any specific area.

We’re excited to see what the new rooms will look like at the popular resort, even if it means waiting that long. Who knows, maybe one of the new lands at one of Disney World’s parks will be open before this refurb is done at this point.
