REVIEW: How Did We Ever Live Without This New Disney World Snack?

“You just healed my hand with an arepa con queso.” Animal Kingdom just dropped new arepas, and even if they can’t heal you like Mirabel’s mom in Encanto, they’re sure to be your new favorite snack.

New snack alert!

The Smiling Crocodile just reopened with a new menu, and y’all, if this is a preview of the food coming to Puebla Esparanza, the tropical Americas-themed land taking over DinoLand U.S.A., we might be okay saying goodbye to the dinos (sorry, not sorry).

First, we started with the Pulled Pork Cheese Arepa for $13.49. It’s made with pulled pork, queso fresco, and salsa verde with a side of plantain chips.

Pulled Pork Cheese Arepa

Wowzers! Right off the bat, we loved the huge portion! Both areas were a great size for a full lunch or to share, and from the first bite, we could taste the high-quality meat and elevated flavors. The arepa was covered with a mozzarella cheese and then topped with the queso fresco for a double cheese moment. The pulled pork was so juicy, and you could taste the meat’s flavor through each bite. The juice was dripping through the wrapper on the bottom, and we were loving it. You can taste the corn flavor of the area, paired with crispy plantain chips that are perfectly crunchy with a punch of salt.

We also had the Pulled Chicken Cheese Arepa for $13.49, served with pulled chicken in avocado dressing, queso fresco, salsa verde, and plantain chips.

Pulled Chicken

This arepa is very similar to the pulled pork one, but the sauce is what really shines! The chicken was so juicy, dripping in the avocado dressing, which was smooth and creamy. We’re not messing around when we say dripping in sauce. Don’t forget to grab some more napkins! The salsa added a nice, bright freshness with a great cilantro flavor. The chicken was also so tender and easy to eat since it wasn’t fatty and complemented the softness of the arepa well. The corn flavor stands out, and paired with the crunch from the plantain chips, we were in heaven.

Pulled Chicken

The Smiling Crocodile is only open from 11 AM to 3 PM, so if you want to get your hands on arepas, make sure you schedule in your snacking. We truly think this might be an underrated spot and that this will be added to our top five lunches and snacks at Animal Kingdom. Keep following AllEars for more.
