Owala vs Stanley: Which Is the Best Water Bottle for Disney World?

We talk about water bottles pretty much daily here at AllEars. That’s because we go to Disney World every day, and hydration is KEY to a great day in the parks (and we talk about that a lot, too). Also, water can be PRICEY. So you really will save some money if you bring your own water bottle and refill it at one of the many refill stations around the parks.

We love our Owalas!

So that gives us a unique opportunity: to test out water bottles just to see how well they work for us while we’re in the parks. Now, two of the most popular brands are Stanley and Owala, so we’re pitting them against each other to see which water bottle comes out on top.

Stanley IceFlow Water Bottle

Okay, let’s start with the Stanley IceFlow Water Bottle. After days and hours of testing, we found that this is our FAVORITE water bottle for Disney World. (We were shocked too).

Stanley IceFlow

So, why did we like it so much? Well, for starters, we were impressed with the price. Also, the handle flips down on both sides for easy carrying (which is important in a theme park when you’re walking a ton).

Stanley IceFlow

We also like the flush design at the top. It’s also slimmer, but still hefty enough to keep water cold and even keep ice in your drink for several hours. We’re talking HOURS, people. Like after 6 hours in the Florida sun, there was still ice in this water bottle — that’s pretty incredible!

We love the top!

Our favorite feature is that the lid comes completely apart, so you can really get into it and clean everything. This also easily fits in a backpack side pocket or cup holder on a stroller, all of which are wins in our book.

We will say, it’s this particular Stanley style that we really enjoy. We wouldn’t recommend your standard Stanley that doesn’t close and has that large handle in the parks. Those are prone to spills and don’t fit in backpacks or strollers as easily!

So after hours and hours of testing, this Stanley came out on top. BUT just by the skin of its teeth.

Owala FreeSip Water Bottle

On to the Owala FreeSip Water Bottle. So it might come in second to the Stanley, but we love that the Owala comes in Disney Princess-inspired colors, along with a ton of other colors. We also love the soft-close spout that locks with another layer to keep it spill-proof while you’re carrying it around.

Rapunzel Owala Water Bottle

The bottle also doesn’t sweat and keeps your drink cold along with ice for several hours…even on the hotter days, much like the Stanley did. It’s also nice and slim. It’s also durable: we’ve dropped it a few times and it was FINE.

This one is also durable and easy to take apart for cleaning. But there are lots of pieces that need to be cleaned, and some grooves are really hard to get super clean.

And although it fits in a shallow mesh pocket in our backpack, it’s a bit too heavy to stay secure that way. The Stanley is a bit more stout and works better in a mesh pocket.  So yes, the Owala comes in second after the Stanley, but it’s still a really good option and one we find ourselves bringing to the parks again and again.
