Self-driving cars, Reese’s Oreos, AI Glasses…what will they think of next?! Here at AllEars, we’re more into theme park-specific product innovations (though we were pretty darn excited about those Reese’s Oreos).

For instance, did you know that there’s a nifty hands-free fan that you can wear on your waistband? It’s true — and we tested it ALL DAY in Disney World. Here’s what we thought.
OK, so this AMKEN Waist Fan has been all over our Instagram feeds — talk about targeted advertising! Unlike a regular old portable fan you have to hold, this one gets clipped right onto your pants, belt, or the included strap, providing a constant flow of air right at your waist and midsection.

It’s labeled as an outdoor waist fan, which is beneficial because this device is sturdy; the design is compact yet durable, and we felt comfortable with it clipped to our waist all day.

Let’s start with one of the most important features: the POWER. This fan has three speeds (low, medium, high), but in Disney World, you’re gonna want to keep it on high — trust us. That said, even on high, this fan is powerful! The motor kicks up to 16,000 RPM, so it feels like you’re really being blasted with nice, cool air.

We first tested the fan at Tomorrowland Terrace in Magic Kingdom. For our experiment, we stuck it on a table with the little built-in kickstand. Portable fan while dining outside? Yes, please! Then, we clipped it to the front of our shorts while in line for Jungle Cruise, where, again, it felt like we had our own personal AC even in the middle of the outdoor queue. Finally, we strapped it on for a stroll around the EPCOT World Showcase and stayed nice and cool all afternoon. If you’re someone who tends to get overheated in outdoor locations, this is a great solution.

To be fair, we have to mention some of the downsides, like, for one, the noise. It’s a high-powered fan, and you will hear it doing its thing. It’s probably not going to be distracting to anyone around you, but if you’re wearing it all day, you’ll notice it. Additionally, this thing weighs about a pound, so keep that in mind and be prepared for a little extra weight on your waistband.
Did we expect this thing to work as well as it did? NO! We were pleasantly surprised. Yay for cooling technology innovations!
In the meantime, we’ll be keeping an eye out for the latest Disney deals, so make sure you stay tuned to AllEars for more!
