With 2-Hour Wait Times, Is Halloween Horror Nights Even Worth It Without Express Pass?

It’s almost spooky season here in Orlando, and that means Halloween Horror Nights is back! From August 29th to November 2nd, you can get a ticket to walk through terrifying houses at Universal Orlando and try delicious, exclusive snacks.

Halloween Horror Nights

Since this event is so popular, should you splurge and buy an Express Pass for your trip to Halloween Horror Nights? Let’s break down the prices and see if this is the trick to getting the most done at Universal.

A one-day ticket has a starting cost of $82, but the price varies depending on the date. Dates closer to Halloween tend to be more expensive, as everyone gets into the spooky spirit.

For an express pass, which lets you skip the line at every house one, it’s an additional $159, depending on the date. Catch that additional? Yep, you still need to buy your park ticket.

Turn back?

That means you’re spending about $240 per person! And while we’ve definitely been to HHN alone, more than likely, you’ll be with friends or family, so let’s assume it’s at least a group of two. $480! Yikes.

Should you spend the money on it? That will depend on what your goal is and when you’re going. If you want to visit every single house, try lots of snacks, experience the scare zones, and do everything in between, you might need some additional help to get everything done. If you’re only going for one night, there’s a lot to get done.

Spreading it out across even two days is still cheaper than doing it in one day with the Express Pass, but, of course, that depends on your travel plans, whether you’re local, and numerous other details.

This house surprised us!

If you’re there for the vibes and don’t need to go through all ten houses, you’ll probably be fine without Express. You can navigate through the scare zones, which are walk-through areas featuring actors trying to spook you up close and personal, as well as try the exclusive food.

Eternal Bloodlines (2024)

You can hop into one or two houses and still get the Halloween Horror Nights experience without needing to spend the big bucks.

Signs telling you where to line up

Want to get food and all the houses? Expect to be waiting in line. While there are listed times for the houses, the food lines always sneak up on us and are longer than we expect.

Going on a date closer to Halloween will also make the event busier. When the tickets go up, the more people there are. Going on a night that has the lowest tickets may be the way to go to get into all the houses you want.

During one of our visits last year, we didn’t see any lines above 85 minutes, which we think is a steal. However, it depends on the day and what houses are available that year. When the Stranger Things house was available, people were waiting hours to get in.

So, do you need the Express Pass? If you need to get it all done and won’t be satisfied until you complete everything, yes! If you prefer to take your time and do only what you prioritize, you can probably skip the pass.

Whether you go for the pass or not, be sure to scream extra loud and have a blast. We’re going to be at Halloween Horror Nights this year, bringing you all the details you need, so keep following AllEars for more!
